Met blacktail at the range today, where I discovered we come from the same part of the world. He told me about this site, so I thought I would give it a go.
I used to tag along hunting and fishing with my gramps when I was a kid, but then school, work, and other activities got it the way. When he passed last year it got me thinking again of the fun we used to have, so I jumped back in with both feet. After acquiring a PAL, hunter ed course, and more-than-I-care-to-say spent on gear, and I'm in business. Not very successfully mind you, based on my duck count this fall, but it has been fun. I suppose I could have already been walking the coulees around Redcliff these last few years without hunting, but you have to admit the thrill of the chase adds a bit more excitement to Southeast Alberta adventures than simply pulling cactus spines out of your feet or carrying your weight in water.
My carpool mate grew up hunting around Vauxhall so I'll be leaning on him for good deer advice, but I would be happy to meet up with other goose hunters to try out some field shoots. Oh, and I'll be sure to post some pics of my Suffield elk in Nov
