Rolling out our "Supporters of Alberta Sportsman" program

We have had several requests by people to sponsor the board. Rather than have a sponsor program we are going to be rolling out a "supporters of Alberta Sportsman" program. The purpose of this place was never to make a bunch of cash from it, the purpose was to give people an unbiased, uncensored, and fair treatment community so they can discuss and share their outdoor passions. Some of you have noticed adsense ads and some ads with our Cabelas agreement, the sole purpose is to get the site making a bit of funding so we can promote it on a bigger level. I would like to note that anyone participating in this program will not have any control or say over the board content whatsoever with the obvious exception of outright blatant offensive posts that offend the general user base or meant to cause trouble, and I am not saying that to be rude, it is very important to us that this place remain free from the same completely unnecessary restrictions and sponsorship control that other boards might be obligated to. That being said we would like to give back to the community in the form of prizes, gifts, sponsorships, charities, causes and anything we can do to grow as a community. So what we are proposing to do is to create a tiered support system.

Tier 1: For a small contribution the supporter will receive and Alberta Sportsman decal they can stick on the truck, boat, RV or their wife's minivan. Your name will go on our supporter list.

Tier 2: For a slightly larger contribution the supporter will receive an Alberta Sportsman hat. Wear it fishing, hunting, or out to your favorite cowboy bar. Your name goes on our supporter list.

Tier 3: For a corporate supporter you will receive a 180 x 150 banner on the right sidebar of the board. Alberta Sportsman will assist with banner design if required. You can choose to have your banner on the main page, a specific section or sections, or all pages. You will also receive a forum section under our supporters to post sales, events or anything you might have going on.

Tier 4: For a corporate supporter you will receive a 468 x 60 banner on top right side of the board, this appears on all pages. You will also receive a forum section under our supporters to post sales, events or anything you might have going on.

Tier 5: For a corporate supporter you will receive a 120 x 240 banner in the first post of every topic. You will also receive a forum section under our supporters to post sales, events or anything you might have going on.

Tier 6: For a corporate supporter you will receive a 728 x 90 banner on the top left side of the site that is currently occupied by adsense. This appears on every site page and section. You will also receive a forum section under our supporters to post sales, events or anything you might have going on.

Who can be a supporter and what will it cost?

Anyone can support us. For corporate supporters we naturally prefer outdoor related businesses. As far as cost we are working on that, but we are not above taking items from supporters to give back as prizes rather than accepting payment. The merchandise given should equal the cost value for the corporate supporter and should be free and clear of any other obligations on behalf of the winner.

As we are a small growing community, the most important thing to us is that there is value for anyone willing to support us. As we are realistic in that, we understand that it should be kept relatively inexpensive to start, and will adjust as we grow. Or we will allow rotating of supporter ads to keep the cost reasonable but allow more supporters. Those who are willing to support us early on will receive preferential treatment down the road.
