Sad Day In The Patch.

Tough day for some families out there, as of this afternoon they have recovered the bodies.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/01/22/oklahoma-rig-explosion-leaves-5-missing-emergency-official-says.html

Boys, I'm not going to speculate at this time nor blame anybody but I will say this because I know !!
If all regulations are followed if all our equipment is maintained and ran and operated properly things like this can not happen. They happen when, corners are cut and chances are taken. This region of the US as most in the US are so far behind on regulation and enforcement of the regulations they have it's like Western Canada in the 70's. They  are up on their actual drilling practices but the rest like regulation and operations is so far behind and you can't tell them yanks nothing after all they are mericans what could they possibly not know. These men lossed their lives because their supervisors did not enforce sound policies or let things slide and that I know. When I see things like this I am so happy I work for a company and have always done so for the last 20 years worked for companies that will not accept anything but full compliance on all regulations and even go over board on most. As an on site supervisor we are expected to ensure this type of thing does not happen to our men.

I can't help but think how much money they saved on that well,, was it worth it, was it worth those men's lives. Wasn't going to happen was it !!

Yes, sad indeed.
You don't see these rig explosions much anymore with the advanced technology and safety requirements.
Something was missed for sure.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

I've had the sad honour of losing a few friends in the mining industry. :(

Same as the oil & gas industry I guess.

I think we have all had close calls,I know I have.

April 28th....a day of mourning. :(

Thanks for post Walleyes:

Western Canada in the 70's:

The Berland River blowout north of Hinton.  I heard that rig blew because they were too cheap on the mud. I also heard that Red Adair left that one to burn itself out.

The Drayton Valley blowout that stunk Alberta up with a nice sulfer smell for weeks.

"Just about incidents" that relatives in the patch would talk about when they came home for time off.

Glad to know things are better these days.

A BEAUTIFUL POEM WRITTEN BY A OILFIELD WIFE.

A barrels at a decade low,
Jobs are Far and few between,
Not counted in the price of oil,
Are the Men behind the scenes.

Yesterday another life was lost,
In a dangerous oilfield life,
Nothing left but memories,
For his children and his wife.

Those who bash the oilfield,
Have no idea just how far,
Our men are willing to push themselves,
So they can heat their homes and drive their cars.

And yet now another Rigger,
Is called to paradise in the Sky,
A barrel might not be worth much,
But the price of oil is very high.

That is a quite a moving little poem.

Especially after you read it a few times.

Thanks again Walleyes.
