Samson Cree at Hobbema to evict gangsters
« on: January 05, 2012, 09:03:35 AM »
I was listening to the news this morning and the Hobbema band has voted to have the power to evict criminals off the reserve. I don't really agree with this idea. First of all they are taking their problems and sending them out into other places, most likely Edmonton, where they will continue their gang activity and have to be dealt with by other people. The Samson band has money, they should be dealing with these problem people on the reserve. What I would suggest:

Set up a gang task force, say 3-4 guys, head it up by someone who has a lot of police experience dealing with gangs. Arm them and give them full police powers on the reserve. Take a zero tolerance approach to gang activity, make it a crime to be involved in gang activity. Build a jail on the reserve to house these people when they are convicted of crimes. I am sure the Feds would be happy to kick some money in to support this.

More time and money spent educating the kids on the reserve so they do not get involved in that sort of activity. More sport/youth programs. More time spent teaching the kids about the traditional ways, fishing, hunting etc.

I don't want to sound like a prejudice arsehole because I'm not, but I just don't agree with they way this is being dealt with.

Fully agree with you on this one Paul. I was just reading about it in this mornings Sun. This program will do little and nothing to get at the cause of their problems. I can see other issues arising from this as well. All they need is 5 people to vote for someone to be evicted,, do you honestly think there won't be blatant abuse of this program. You are right when you say they should build the jails on their own reserves and real with the issues themselves.

As far as teaching traditional ways,, I beleive that is what is happening. Them people have no idea what their traditions are, to most of them the tradition is alcohol and drug abuse and hanging out in town. Thats what happens when you have nothing to work towards and things are just handed out to you. You have absolutely no need to better yourself,, just the same old same old will do.. I am sure it won't be long and we will see the big scandal on how this is the white mans fault and they will be crying for more money to battle the issues. They will once again receive the money and have it squandered off in some senseless way and then again in a few years it will start all over again.. What a shame, what a shame..

This stuff is never ending.... >:(

More funding for policing, jails or whatever is not the solution. The money never gets to where it suppose to go. It is wasted and squandered by chiefs and council. I would suggest they cut off all monies, handouts and freebies, treat them as they treat you and I.
Look at the track record on reserves over the decades. Has anything changed?  ::) You can give them all the money in the world and nothing will ever change, it all gets wasted.  What a shame our government allows these people to waste our tax dollars, I'd much rather give it to the starving kids in the world.

Shut down the cash cow and let them stand on their own two feet. Low self esteem and addiction results in the problems we see on most reserves all over North America.

You make your bed in this life and you lay in it.   'nough said!

Yup, another lame attempt at fixing the problem.  I am with Tuc and Walleyes on their assessment on the issue.

This stuff really pisses off why the hell should we have to deal with their shit. They bitch and cry that we can't interfer with stuff on the reserve, but now they can't handle it,and they want to ship their wastes off skin our way and make it our problem and put our families in danger. Biggest crock off shit I have ever heard. Maybe they should should start putting a limit on the amount of kids they are having.  I better stop here.

lol I couldn't help myself but I did show some restraint. I moved away from duffield about 6 months ago. But that is part of the reason I feel the way I do about this topic.

More complete bullshit today on the news regarding Hobbema.  RCMP layed charges on three youths in the shooting death of five-year-old Ethan Yellowbird last summer.  Good for them but here is what pisses me off about this.  They RCMP charged these guys with charges of manslaughter; intentional discharge of a firearm and endangering life.  The boy was shot in the head on July 11 while sleeping at his father's house, which had been sprayed by gunfire from a passing vehicle at 3:30 a.m.   This is after an investigation involving 14 full-time investigators compiling 14,000 officer hours and contact with hundreds of witnesses.

What in the hell do you have do to be charged with murder in this country.  Manslaughter is defined as killing another human without the intent to kill.  So spraying an occupied house with bullets in the middle of the night doesn't qualify as "intent to kill"?  Come on RCMP, what the hell!  They didn't endanger the poor boys life, they f..kn took it.  Seriously, these charges are a joke and the accused if found guilty will get a slap on the wrist, especially being young offenders.  After spending that much time and money on the investigation these charges are a joke and a waste of my tax money.   If I had my way, I would say take my tax money and build a fence around that shithole and let them all kill each other.  Sad but true, enough is enough.  If this is the result after finding the ones responsible for the mess, then it is all doomed to hell!

If I could give you a mark on your last post Axe i would rate it a 10 out of 10.  Our laws in this country are retarded for criminals.  I am going for jury selection on the 12th so maybe I will have my chance to say my piece.  I doubt they will choose me as I am more of the hang them high type of guy and they don't like that much.

Everyone's missing the broader implications of this IMO.  A recognized legal entity funded by taxpayers being allowed the power to banish certain individuals should mean the ability of said taxpayers being able to banish certain members of the recognized entity from OUR land and society.

Which would mean Edmonton, Wpg and other places would have a sudden, massive crime drop.   ;)

So, uh, what's the population of Australia now???   8)

i am glad to hear that the gestpo are finally taking action. There the question as to why so many people has to die before the council stepped in to take action.  :(If this were to happen in other area in Canada the police would have reacted faster. The other point is why the witnesses would not come forward right away. When some loses there life I would like to think that people in the band would come forward to help save a life.
