A Saskatchewan farmkid was off to university in Saskatoon, to study to be an agrologist. After the first month of "Party 101", he was flat broke. He got on the phone to his father, and told him that one of the profs in the Ag. College was teaching dogs to speak. His father questioned the benefit of a talking dog and what the cost would be. He was told that the cost was $1000. and that they would have the only talking dog in the area. Dad agreed to send Sporty and a cheque on the bus the next day. Another month of "Party 101", found Junior broke again. He called home, whereupon Dad asked immediately how Sporty was doing. He was informed that Sporty was learning so well, that the prof now wanted to teach him to read. Again Dad questioned the merit of a dog that could talk and read, but Junior convinced him that the $2500. to teach the dog to read was well worth it. Dad sent a cheque. At the end of the term, Junior was again broke, the dog could neither read nor speak, and he was going home. He was in quite a quandry, so he shot the dog. Upon arriving home, Dad wanted how Sporty was doing. Junior explained that he and Sporty were watching TV last night. Sporty was reading the local paper, when he asked Junior if his Dad was still playing around with the little redhead up the road. Dad quickly asked Junior if he shot Sporty. Junior informed him that he had, because he did not think Dad would want Sporty talking to Mom. Junior went on to a successful law career!!!
