Sasquatch sightings in Alberta?
« on: January 24, 2018, 10:23:51 PM »
Hey guys,

I started a new website: http://sasquatchalberta.com

I wanted a way for Albertans to be able to report their alleged bigfoot/sasquatch encounters somewhere. I think it's a tremendously interesting topic that gets under reported and under credited here. I don't vouch for the existence of such a creature, I just think it has played and important role in the historicity of the great outdoors and I wanted to give the inhabitants of this province a soap box to stand on and discuss it.

I know it's a controversial subject and I don't purport being an expert or an investigator, I am merely interested in the human story at play here.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. This isn't a solicitation, I'm not selling anything or advertising on the website.

Hello, Interesting mystery for sure whether it is a cultural phenomenon of the human psyche or a physical creature.
Definitely heard my share of story's but I'm a skeptic by nature and would need to see a body.
Are you associated with Todd Standing at all?

Certainly an interesting topic around the camp fire on many an occasion. Personely I'll take a hard pass on the existence of such an animal. Way to many people out in the bush these days and over the years it would be impossible by this time not to have some hard evidence that they exist. But still it's a fun topic.

I do have a story of a strange occurence that could be lumped into the wheelhouse of bigfoot only because it occurred in a area where many stories have came out of concerning them.
Nonetheless it is a headscratcher.

What would have the ability to rock a camperized bus back and forth so violently the occupants could not walk without holding onto stuff for balance.
First and only immediate thought is grizzly right?
Well we found no prints in the area or claw marks on bus.
Also there were two rotties tied up outside one a particularly big aggressive and ultra protective male that I would of confidently faced damn near anything with him by my side....They never made a peep.
To top it all off we got four big dudes to try rocking the bus by pushing on the outside and could hardly get it to move.
I mean it had to be a big grizz right but you think he would leave physical evidence in the form of scratches on the bus if nothing else and the rotties being quiet was so completely out of character.

A few years ago when my dog and I were charged by a grizzly and I yelled at the grizzly he stood up on his hind legs and was really giving me a good look.  The way he was in the grass and trees I would have though a sasquatch was on us.  That been said I once went up the transalta road  on the ghost river to pull out an old German fellows car who was stuck in deep snow as he was out hunting sasquatch.  Listening to him describe how he had seen sasquatch in the area I kinda believed him.

I have said it before that I am on the fence leaning towards hoping their real. I say this because too many people have come forward with tales and foot imprints, lots of folk lore too. I have a old Bigfoot book from my youth, its made up of real life sightings. One was supposedly from Teddy Roosevelt, he was quite the outdoors man, did he actually have the encounter or was he a big ole story teller?

Yet, to date, no bodies found, dens etc. Why in today's age of cell phones are all vids still so shaky and unclear? Those are the fakers lol. I hunt a well used Northern Wmu. Most of it's access is in the southern half. I also sled it every year. I know I have found places with the sled that I'm sure only a few humans have ever been too since the crew that cut those lines, access is tough mostly due to the muskeg and distance from a road. Then look at the vast valleys in the mountain ranges. So I think that even today, there are places a creature could exist and not be seen. I see maybe 1 bear every fall where I hunt, yet the outfitter takes a bunch every spring. If a bear can be that stealthy, why not a bigfoot.

As mentioned, fun to talk about and debate but until solid proof is shown on tape or actual evidence, the mystery will continue.

Just a big myth is all.  Real evidence would have turned up by now.

BTW, that Todd Standing guy and Les Stroud are nutjobs too.   ;D

This guy has some sort of a business plan. ;D

It looks sort of promising.

Suggestion for the op.

Get a student hiring grant from the federal government.

The grant will go under the "Sasquatch Abortion Program".

Summer students hired by the federal government will roam the national parks with an ice pick and toilet plunger performing abortions on Sasquatches.

That should be good for a cool million bucks.

That's for all the great feedback everyone. I totally agree, I find it hard to believe but year after year people are reporting seeing strange things in the woods. I think a lot of these can be chalked up to misidentification or imaginations running amok. I still find the story really entertaining and I think that this legendary creature helps keep mystery and wonder alive and well. I think its great for helping remind us that there is still mystery and adventure to be had out there. I also think that it the myth has in its own unique way helped shape some of our culture and our heritage.

No, that's a guy named Todd Standing. He's an eccentric individual who I know little about.

Here is one of the better photos of a real sasquatch.   ;D

I've seen this video. If it's real, it makes you go what is that ascending that grade so quickly. Of course, another video thats either too far, too grainy or too jumpy  :-\
