Self Isolation Projects.
« on: April 03, 2020, 08:03:23 AM »
So with this self isolation thing happening what’s everyone doing to pass the time.

I am one of the fortunate ones and am still working ( well I’m home on days off now ) but our operation is still going. Taking all precautions to keep the work site safe and still function is a bit of a challenge but so far we’ve made it work.

To be honest this self isolation thing is nothing new to me when I’m home it’s pretty much what I do anyways, lock myself in my shop and work away.

No big projects planned as of yet, power polish and wax the big boat, maybe redo our dining room table top then maybe some small wood projects. I was planning on falling and peeling a few spruce trees here at home but the snow won’t drop down and I can’t get off the trail with my tractor. Bloody cold spring I’ll tell yah.

So what’s everyone doing to pass the time.

I am also one of the lucky ones still working but reduced hours.
We started a bunch of seedlings and are planning and researching our first real garden.
Tons of conflicting info out there about gardening.
Who new?
Also been doing a little to much online shopping.
Some guns and ammo are getting scarce and retailers are heavily backlogged so get on it if you need anything.
Have a new toy coming I will reveal when it shows up:)

I am lucky as well.  Still at work at NAIT as part of a skeleton crew.  We have been extremely busy to transitioning instructors to be able to teach remotely from home.  Actually, that has been going as well as can be imagined.  Remote technology such as Teams/Webex/Zoom and our Citrix streamed applications make this a success.  Lab component and hands on of course is a challenge, but some recording of video and simulation is still possible.

Staying busy at home is not problem for me as well.  I am a hermit by nature and could keep busy in the garage for months.  I recently restored an old Remington 141 gamemaster in .35 remington.  Kind of a cool old pump gun.

I support an essential service so I can still work as well but it is normally a slow time now with break up/road bans and farmers not really doing things. Wife has been working from home so happy were still working.

I did move my bird houses from my shed to the big tree in the yard last weekend in anticipation of a shed roof replacement. Rotting out after 30 yrs so I am going to add another couple feet and another shelf around the top for storage.

I wanted to do it last year but the sparrows got in and built their nests before me so I left it be. Good thing as with the wet summer we had, would have been a delayed project with a tarp over the shed.

As we hang out around home, just doing the small stuff while I wait for more snow to disappear. Clean the garage etc. Time for a big bin/big junk clean up this spring.

The Ultimate .223 unrestricted semi auto available to us would probably be a ATRS modern varmit model if you have deep pockets.
I think they start around $3500
Nice benefit of a Model that takes AR mags is you can legally have 10 round capacity if you get some lar15 pistol mags for it.
A WK180C or Ruger mini 14 target would be the most budget friendly probably if you can get over the thumb hole stock on the mini 14.

COVID-19 isolation is bad enough without the sickening Turdo daily drivel.  He pops out of his hole like a sick groundhog and then back in.
