 What does a little red X by the members name mean ..
 I'm trying to pm but no go

Not sure W101.
I don't see the red x by your name and your account looks normal on my end.
Perhaps try logging out and back in again. You can try to send a test pm to me.
Is you inbox or outbox too full.  Try deleting a few old messages?

 It sent it , but this AM I tried 3 times to send pms

The red x is just a delete option if you want to remove that person in the send list.
