+1, I worked for the Alberta Forest Service in Slave Lake Forest on Doucette Tower out of Wabasca-Damarais, in 1993, the final year of my work in forestry for them and the BCFS, starting in April, 1965. I have fond memories of some very nice people, typical of friendly Albertans, IME, as I worked out of Hinton for the AFS in 1990 and 1991. So. I also send my hopes for all to come through this unscathed and without loss of homes, etc.
I have seem and fought my share of big fires and in some brutal country among huge, old, dry Cedars in the West Kootenays of BC, where I am from, there are few more truely terrifying experiences than being "at the face" of one of these, especially alone and without radio contact.....it sure gets your bowels in an uproar!
I sure hope none of the firefighters get killed, I lost a few brave friends that way and it is a dangerous and deadly job.
