Sleep clock
« on: October 21, 2017, 07:00:01 AM »
So, who can turn their sleep clock on and off? I'm semi-retired now (work a few days a week) but still up at 4:30 every morning like when I work. Even when I worked full time, I be up on weekends at 4:30. Guess after after 35 years your body is just use to it. I like getting up early, but can't stay up pass 9 at night, how's your sleep clock work?

I'm still not to bad. I'm on a rotating shift at work and for years before that I was sitting single man looking after the rigs so I can turn my clock on and off quite easy most of the time. But sleeping in not so much anymore I guess it depends what sleeping in is. At home I get up between 7-7:30 and usually sleeping by 10-11.
I find when I'm at work I have an easier time getting used to the night shift than I do switching back to days. We'll generally do either 7 or 10 days of nights when we first get in then do a 24hr shift and flop over to days for 7-10 days. I have a heck of a time getting the body over to days, I'm dead tired by 7:00 pm and awake at 2:00 am it's a real bugger sometimes. Have to use some sleep aids some shifts to get switched over.

Good topic ....I spent close to 40 years on the road , never could
sleep in hotels ...4 hrs max a nite ......so my clock is definitely broken.
Now that I am absolutely retired , lm trying to fit a nap in , doesn't
sound tough , but it is !
    Most days I'm done by 8 , sleeping by 9:30 , up by 5 .
Apparently this is a problem with most elderly people, I can't
wait to get there ! 😵

Tough to turn 30, 40 years of the same thing off I guess off. I'm out at my daughter's place up in Rochester, we had a small  together last night, mostly young people. I managed to stay up till midnight but was up again at 5 this morning. All the young folk will be up and about probably around 10, and the SIL said he would cook breakfast. Well lunch for me I guess.  8)

I've always been an early riser no matter what it seems.
My night shift experience is pretty limited but haven't had a problem staying awake when I have.  Never did sleep well during the day though.  Somehow a guy finds a way to get the work done but the fatigue would set in for sure.  I remember at the end of one shift feeling like I was doing ok but just climbing the stairs to my room, it felt like the legs were jello lol.
My current job of 9 years has been all daytime work.  Monday I have a meeting that could result in a different job that would eventually turn into steady day/night rotations so see how that goes.  The potential for a week on week off is really enticing even if it involves night shift.

Up at 5? You must have been checking around the neighborhood to see who's hay bales were being destroyed by you know who. ;) ;D

I wish, I don't know anybody up here, my daughter just moved out this way. Maybe in time.
