SNOW CONDITONS
« on: January 10, 2018, 02:56:22 PM »
I was back country skiing north of Coleman last weekend and the snow on the flats was really thumping with cracks shooting out from my skis. I decided to stay off anything steep. I now read that a skier was killed in an avalanche in the Fernie area so the snow pack seems unstable.  Anyone else being out and about and seeing  weak or stable snow layers?

Not enough of it out east here, not even a foot, nice in a way, quiet with no snow machines blaring up the country side lol.

I was just looking at the avalanche site and it is dangerous in the south from Waterton to Fernie. If you are hearing whompfs get off anything steeper than 35% and stay off the convex areas on tops of slopes. https://www.avalanche.ca/map

The interesting thing about this content is that it allows me to develop myself and use it well.
