Some scary stuff here. Let's be extra careful out there people we don't need more of these this year.

Thoughts and prayers to the hunter and his family. I hope for the best.

Remember the pepper spray guys.  even if you have a gun the spray can help if the bear gets on you.  Rifles are just too big for the close quarter encounters (although I want one before he gets me!)

Anybody know the name of the victim?

The hunters name is Rick Cross. I work with his son on the gun counter at BPS.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to his family.

Truly unfortunate!!!  My condolences to the family.  I guess that hunting by oneself has it own peculiar problems.  I HATE BEARS!!!!!  Problems arise.  In this particular case, had he defended himself, it would have given him problems, had he defended himself and known that he was being stalked by a grizz.

Pretty tough news.. If there is anything positive out of this tragedy it's that the man went out doing what he loved doing, not that it makes it OK just a bit better guess.

My heart goes out to his family..

I read an article about Rick in the Sun and he was quite the guy. A man of faith that practiced his faith openly. Giving so much of his time to charity. I am sure he will be missed by his family but I know they will take comfort in the fact he is with his creator..

The Lord wanted him home.. We don't know why but he did..
