Some kids these days....
« on: June 13, 2016, 06:04:27 PM »

For a change I mean that in a good way. My nieces 23 yr old son and his fiancé
Are hiking the PCT .....Pacific Crest Trail . They started east of San Diego on April 10 ,
And are in the High Sierras , Northern California ,today . They just hiked thru 6 passes
Where the snow was 4-5!ft. Deep . You have to start at 4 am and quit about 10 am if you
Don't want to be wading through soft snow . I get an email every 10 days on their progress
And I'm following them and the trail on google earth . Suppose to take 4.5 months , if all goes
well and you end up in Manning Prov. Park on Hiway 3 in Southern BC .
Kind of makes my 30 day canoe trips in Eastern Manitoba ....50 yrs ago , kind of small.
When my sister first told me about this  I thought that's nice a little walk in the bush .lol
I'm impressed ,I hope they git er done .

That's pretty impressive stuff. Takes guts to take on such a task.

Keep us up to date on their progress as it comes to you please.

Ok , you'll know what I know . Apparently most people do not finish the 2500 or so miles
To the end . This is  Allisa and Riley's engagement party .....4.5 months with a small group
That were total strangers at mile one ( page 8 in the album ) .

There are a lot of pics,  about 2 cups of coffee worth . Wildlife in the pics
     Deer , a marmot or a bear , they've met both , rattler , scorpion , cactus .

He was a skinny little asthmatic kid , he,s a lineman for Manitoba hydro now,
      And obviously a hiker .

       Enjoy more to come!

Update on the kids ......100 miles to go and they will be at trails end
Back in Canada . The last 400 miles of this thing in Montana is the
Most treacherous, lets winter in the upper elevations . Check pictures
On the Flickr link in my first post ......incredible . I'm pretty proud of these two .
