Spent the past 10 days out in the Sticks of Cadomin .
« on: July 06, 2011, 02:18:53 PM »
Well we be back from out trip to Paradise , man I gotta admit we are so lucky to be 4 hours away from the mountains , Nothin like wakein up in the mornin and taking a long deep breath of fresh mountain air , kinda makes me jealous that people that get to live in the mountains and do it daily . Anyway back to the topic at hand .

We had a great trip Left Last Monday and we got home yesterday those days went by way to fast . Meet up with Fellow AO member Sonny J , I can officially say Great guy was awesome to meet him and have a few laughs and enjoy a few beers around the fire .

I was shocked at the amount of snow still up in them there Mountains , its insane . Looks like the area where we were at the Mcleod river had been so High eroded away part of the river bank leaving it very weak , and sucked in some huge old trees that were along there .

The Rams man we saw a few hundred easily , the most weve seen and we have been going to this same place a few years in a row . If the Elk numbers around them parts were any indication Elk populations will be great as well as the moose and Deer . Saw a Grizz and 3 cubs ( this years ) walking along the other side of the river just below the railroad tracks . Then Saw a huge Black bear up on an open meadow I guess yad call it on a mountain , was pretty cool to see .

I did a little bit of fishing in a huge pool right by our camp site , caught a brookie about 8 inches other then that thats all the fishing I really did , did lots of scouting for Elk as I want to hunt Elk in that area come Fall .

One afternoon there we were sittin around the fire pit we had built , and enjoying a few kokanee , and a Mulie buck and doe , come trottin across the road just walkin , and we watched them come across and right behind my truck maybe 25 yards away . They didnt even care that we were there they stopped looked at us for about 2 minutes , the buck moving his head as they do to find out what the hell you are . It was a pretty cool experince , I nearly felt like a Bow hunter there lol .

Anyway I got my brothers weddin here next week and my one fishin / huntin buddy is getting transfered with the Army so busy next 2 weeks then a week In Kananaskis , then its just 3 day campin trips that might get extended , until Fall when Ill head back to Cadomin area to hunt come fall .

Anyway heres a few pictures of our trip .

Funniest thing happened on our way to Cadomin , we were Rollin thru Edson , and there was a RCMP officer standing in the ditch doing Radar behind a sign , He looked up at us looked thru his Radar gun looked back up shaking his head , I dont think theres nothin wrong with my mobile home .

There were also lots of people givin me the Thumbs up or the looks people would give as if they were like WTF is that thing . I dont care really what people thing , 800 bucks and it dont leak stays fairly warm and thats about that and Gas and everything works furnace , fridge just needs a new propane line no biggy just ran outta time ta do it .

The one night there it got to - 4 colder then a witches teat on the 4th of july . Hell is july not October . Ahh well once I got cozy inta my sleepin bag and my teeth stopped clacking together things were good . That was the day it snowed up ontop of the area mountains , as it rained down at our level .

After a night of - 4 there were pretty non existant . It was very cool the whole time even the hotest day it was only about 18 that was yesterday . Never a non windy day I guess thats why Cadomin is known as the Valley of the Winds .
