Spring Trip to BC

Wife and I spent a few days around 100 Mile House this last week. We looked at some properties and explored the area a bit. Sure are lots of lakes around there. Highway 24 is known as the "Fishing Highway".
We are considering this as a retirement area. Went up past Canim Lake to Mahood Lake on the backside of Wells Gray Park. There are a lot of people living year round in this back country around the lakes. It was interesting to see all the impressive log homes in the area. Many of the mountain roads we took with the Jeep were in excellent condition for spring. The rock base is sure a nice change from some of our Alberta back roads.
We did a quick hike into Canim and Mahood Falls. Canim Falls was impressive with an 80 foot drop into jumbled sharp lava type rocks. It was neat to go right up to the top of the falls and literally peer over the edge where the water goes over. Most of the higher lakes were still iced over but the bigger lower lakes were open water.
There is gold in this country too and we saw some small operations....interesting.
We saw lots of mule deer and they are as dumb as the ones here.
Thought I would share a few pics.

Great pics Axe and I envy the open water.
As far as gold is concerned go check out Barkerville..It's a pretty cool ghost town from the 1800's gold rush era.
Just a bit north of where you are..

Some nice country axe that's for sure.
Would be some nice country to relax in. I bet ones dollar value would go a lot farther there than in Alberta that's for sure.
Thx for sharing.
