This little bugger showed up on our way out into the field

ya lucky it was on the way out to the spot and he didn't show after we settled in..

Yikes, that would bring a new and literal meaning to the term "coffin blind".

The big one's aren't usually much of a problem (although if you step on one it'll get your heart racing);  it's the little buggers that are out now and don't have rattles yet you have to watch for. 

Yes, their poison is just as potent as an adults.  (where I was raised (1/2 mile from a coulee littered with dens) before you opened the door in the morning you looked through the window to see if there was one sunning right about where you'd step out of the door) 

And yes, before they were protected I killed LOT"s of them.  (think quart sealer's full of rattles)

A little OT, but it was usually a big bullsnake in a bin or the scorpions in the coulee that regularly scared the bejeezus out of me.  I guess there were just so many rattlesnakes around that you got used to watching for them?

But ya Blacktail, I'd be checkin' the blind before I jumped into it and the decoy's before I stuck my hand under them to pick them up!
