The best bbq grill for the money
« on: April 26, 2012, 04:20:55 PM »
Well its time to retire my shitty Superstore gas grill, if you think you're saving money by buying a no name grill use caution, they just don't last.

Of course I am looking at a Weber, but might also look at other options, maybe a Kenmore from Sears? Just wondering if anyone has any input on grills or perhaps suggestions on other well made options, something that might last?

Actually I prefer that method too not so sure my wife would approve of a firepit on the deck though

When I wanted to step up to a larger BBQ, I looked at the Webers and other high-end units, but just couldn't afford the multi-thousands of dollars.  I'm sure they're a great unit...but I ended up buying a Canadian Tire Centro 5 burner unit for $750.  Got the natural gas unit.  It's been serving me fine for 7 years so far, with no problems.  I can get it up to over 600 degrees with the top closed.  The only downside is I do notice it could be a little hotter with the open top for grilling my rib eyes, but I can still char a nice blue-rare steak. All in all, I'm happy with it.

Even used it as a smoker for some ribs:

if you can hang tight until august paul, they give em away on end of season sales.  i have a kenmore that ive had for 10 years now.  it says kenmore, but im pretty sure its made by broil king.  regular price on it back then was around 900, but i got it at the end of summer for 400.  i was thinking it may be time to do it again.  darn things dont last forever.

7 years ago, I bought a s/s 5 burner BBQ from Walmart. I can't remember the rebranded name, but the manual was for Vermont Castings. I paid $250. The same BBQ, branded Vermont Castings, was $1200 at Trail Appliances. We love that grill. Every time I'm drug into Walmart, I check to see if they have those bbqs again.

Well looked at a bunch of units and ended up with a Weber, it's all stainless including the grill, should get many years out of it. Cost wise was quite a bit more than other models I looked at but am happy with it. Used it last night chicken and steaks cooked perfectly, no massive flare ups.

Right on, Paul.  When I began reading your post and was just about to click on the pic,  I was thinking to myself, he better have a beer in that pic.  I see a drink which could be beer so you are off the hook.  :)
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?
