The Cabela's fiasco..

I'm sure most of you have heard about the northside Cabela's store turning away cadets who were selling poppies so I won't get into that but..

How do you feel about the apology from the Cabela's CEO?

Here it is..

Quote
Statement from Cabela’s CEO Tommy Millner

Knowing Cabela’s long-standing commitment to supporting the Canadian Armed Forces and Royal Canadian Legion, I was deeply concerned when I learned of the misunderstanding that led to cadets planning to distribute Remembrance Day poppies being turned away from one of our stores.

Of course, cadets are welcome to distribute poppies at our stores, just as they have done in the past, and to make up for the missed opportunity Cabela’s will proudly contribute $10,000 to the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Fund.

Cabela’s Canada, headquartered in Winnipeg, remains absolutely committed to the Canadian military, I assure you that. In 2013, for example, Cabela’s Canada partnered with Veteran Affairs Canada’s Hire a Veteran initiative, which gives veterans opportunities to make a successful transition to civilian life.
Again, on behalf of myself and Cabela Canada’s more than 1,600 employees, I deeply apologize for this unintentional mistake and thank everyone for their understanding and continued support.

Myself,I'm good with it and accept it.

Lot's of hateful chatter on facebook about boycotting them but it was only one store that screwed up and that was the northside store.I'll bet the CEO of Cabela's ripped him a new one.

I will still shop at Cabela's just not the northside store..

Thoughts?

I think it was an honest mistake by a manager not fully aware of what was going on. As far as shopping there,, I seldom do anyways. I go in once and a while to kill time but for the most part they never seem to have anything that interests me. In all the years they have been in Alberta I don't think I have spent more than $200.00 at their stores. I try as much as I can to shop at my local sporting goods stores or at Wholesale.

I am with you Sonny.  It works for me.

I am like you walleyes, I go in and look once in a while but rarely buy anything.  Was planning to get my daughter some hunting clothes there last year but found that WSS had a better selection anyway.
