The official "I don't care if they save the NHL hockey season"
« on: December 10, 2012, 12:52:14 PM »
Pretty much had it with everyone involved, what really needs to happen is everyone quits watching, everyone quits going to the games, the only real winners in the end are the players and the owners, the fans lose, always. I see people posting on facebook with great concern and hope that maybe there will be some hockey this year, but why? Why would anyone support a collection of greedy dinks? People have such short memories.

They don't care about you.

Lots blame the owners for the lockout, but the players get more and more greedy as the years go by. If everyone quit going, how are they going to make anything, how will the players get paid? Maybe they can find other jobs.

Anyway I am done with hockey.

That pic says it all.

It's hard to stop watching NHL hockey but I vowed never to pay for another ticket to watch these guys in an arena. Yes, the games deserve to be boycotted and show these greedy pricks who really pays their wages. Easier said then done....and don't they know it.

I gave up during the last strike/lockout.  Havent watched a game live since (and I use to go a few times a year).  This will probably reduce my TV watching experiences as well.

I'm happy there's no nhl on TV.  There's good movies on instead.

Anyone who misses pro sports of any kind needs to go watch a local amateur game.  Kid's in their late teens are about as good as they're ever going to get, and they try a hell of a lot harder.

I won't support them with a dime of my money either.  The vast majority of the stupid fans will flock back to them with full support though.

Proof, the Edmonton Oilers still sell out all the seasons tickets every year even after finishing dead last in the last couple of years and putting a crappy product on the ice.

Maybe some of the US market will be lost but not in Canada.  Bettman knows this, that greedy little weasel.

My question is, "Will Bettman have the balls to ever step back onto an NHL ice surface in front of the fans again?".  He may be booed off or worse.

Agree with Bruce, why waste your time and money on pro bullshit when a guy can go watch quality midget and even bantam play at local arenas and still get a pop and a burger for $5-$10. Hell I watched my buddies kid in Sylvan last year think it was pee wee and actually enjoyed myself, the level of play was decent and the kids show up to play. Plus it's nostalgic. I have never had a sense of nostalgia at a pro game.

yep we should all sign a petition and if nhl hockey ever does get played this season we should all not attend... if u must watch... watch it on tv .... there are to many die hards tho i guess for that to ever work.... its kinda like the province of quebec for me...  instead of letting them vote amongst themselves they should let the rest of us vote to see if we want to keep em   :P

The federal government should step in and say ok **** all you guys no NHL hockey allowed in Canada for 10 years everyone go home. That would solve it. Of course then that would be Gestapo and would encourage the government to meddle with other things, like maybe law abiding gun owners or something. Might cause Quebecers to riot too.

was a HUGE hockey fan years ago. I quit watching after the first strike as well. I loved going to the games when tickets in the nosebleed section was still affordable. They make more money than those who risk their lives in their jobs make. Not right. Have you seen this group on facebook? I think the date should have started at the beginning of the season though....  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Just-Drop-It/480181678699361?ref=ts&fref=ts

It seems to me alot of the season ticket holder's are companies that use this form of marketing as a write off.  The only games I go to are the one's where I do not pay for tickets.  It has gotten to the point where going to a hockey game is not very afordable for a family.  Right now I can honestly say I am not missing hockey at all.

They are the best in the world at their profession. And those owners own tnose teams. They get paid what they deserve. It's funny cause when you don't like what your paid, you just quit, and move on. They can't. Oh and I'm on the owners side.

Why should they care about their fans first? I'm pretty sure their families, selves and business come before anything....I'm sure no different than any of us. Saying all that, I am tired of this lock out.

Well I think all players should start back up the WHA and fix betmen and all the owners.  Really it is all about greed like everything else in this world.

I'm gonna bet that you don't work for free or minimum wage?

Lol.  Come on Pete. All these players are no different then the owners.  Greedy.  So take all there talent as you say they are the best of the best and go start up there own league. It is called free enterprise.  Then they can have there cake and eat it too.  I work hard for my money. Alot harder then they do. You don't play sports for money.  You make money cause you are good because you love the game.   So what does that has to do with anything? I sure don't work for free and they sure the hell don't for playing a GAME.

They could go start there own league, But i highly doubt any of them have enough money to build arena's or are willing to inherit any of the risks involved.

As far as greed, everyone in this world I know is greedy. No one works for free! I know I'm greedy, I want more, and more everyday. Even when I played, I asked for more every year!

Pete, when you put it that way, I guess I am greedy too.  As a greedy fan I want more entertainment value for my very expensive NHL buck.  As an Edmonton fan, the entertainment value has been falling while the price has been increasing.  I hit the breaking point a few years ago and they lost me as a paying fan.  If they continue to lose paying fans, they will begin to care about the fans.  Unfortunately, the corporate morons are keeping them in business so far.

For some franchises, the breaking point is ever so near.  It is all fan's money in the end.
