Hey AVB:

How is the welfare system down in Florida?  Is it better or the same as Canada?  Can a person live off of "food stamps"? Is what we see from the U.S. media about those poo folks really true?

Please note that I am not being sarcastic. Since you visit there regularly you are able to see what things are like.

Actually, Florida is doing quite well economically. Real estate has boomed (not unusual for some properties to have doubled since the crash), and their unemployment rate is at 4.3%, compared to what in Alberta, 7.8%? The food stamp is a federal program, which most who qualify may use as a supplement. I suspect there are not many who live off it.

Interesting enough, rents are as high or higher than in Alberta, yet even though real estate has boomed, to buy is a lot cheaper than here. That being said, its tougher to get a mortgage, and their wages are a lot lower than here overall.

Great place in the winter/spring, not so great when all that humidity eats you up.

Voting was easy-peasy this morning. Hope all registered in time. I had to vote strategically, as I think Kenney is way to the right for most Albertans. Brian Jean clearly polls well, and he had my vote. That being said, Kenney is definitely one heck of a retail politician, and campaigns well.

I'm just concerned his stated positions gives Notley and crew too much to chew on, and they have been spending the past year trying to define who he is. It'll get worse if he is leader.

I like Brian, I do but he's just not that good of a speaker. Notley will shred him on the debate again, she is a shrewd women and the only one that can run toe to toe with her is Kenny.

I also know Brian personally all be it a few years back but our families go back a long ways and I know his history and personally he's just not the guy he is trying to portray himself as. I can see his lies becaue we know him well. I'll leave it at that. If he does get in I will back him of course but trust me, he's a bit of a snake.

Kenny is my choice, he will slaughter Notley and it will be nothing short of a delight.
That last debate was a terrible showing for Jean and even past that anytime I've heard him get thrown a curveball in interviews he folds.  That stuff matters.
Kenny is a career politician but he is also a winner with an eye on fiscal conservatism.  Ive said it before and I will over and over again, tax burden is one of the biggest if not the biggest threat to our societies future and he is saying the right things.  Will it add up to much?  I don't know but I can't see anyone better to go to bat for us.

Unity is done...step 1 complete.
In 1.5 years step 2 will be complete...Notley and her band of communists, gone for good.
We will get back to sanity in Alberta yet!  :)

Note:  If there are any closet liberals left in the ranks of the UCP, it is time to leave now.

One more thing for me to add.

Thanks are in order Brian Jean for accepting the unity plan for the UCP.  He lost his leadership and the WildRose, but it was more important for Alberta and he knew it.
Thank you, Brian Jean, for your true dedication to Albertans!
He will be instrumental in our futures yet.  Perhaps Deputy Premier or Finance Minister or Energy Minister in a year and a half.

Ready for the Orange Flush next election.  :D

Axe you are right on there.! The key word here is United .
A common goal to rid the land of this plague that has befallen
Us ...The problem with a severe economic downturn is that
there are to many chicken littles in our societies .
As a country we are so fragmented , made up of so many
Self indulgent , self interested people . Never mind just Alberta
But the whole Dominion has only one purpose self aggrandizing
       At every opportunity .
I hope that Notley is sweating bullets . Watch now , you'll see
techniques only ever seen in the old USSR ,to gather the drones
the minions  . Now is the time for a strong voice against socialism .
My wife says I look taller when I'm on my soapbox , what do you
          guys think . 🔥

The right man to lead is in no doubt about it.
Going to be an interesting couple years here. I see the political correct police are out in full force already, starting to trash Kenny. Out with the Homophobia attacks in full force. Doesn't matter what his fiscal policies are, doesn't matter if he gets this province back to work, just heaven forbid he doesn't give the homos front and center stage. Unreal what this country is turning into. One of the things they were attacking him on is he wants to give the Catholic schools the right to decide on their own sex education program and teach their kids traditional family values. The key here is their right to choose. The left won't have any of it, the Catholic Church and Kenny are homophobes for it. What I don't get is why do they want to give everybody their own right to choose as long as they are choosing what they want them to choose as soon as those values don't line up with theirs it's a problem. They constantly are against state and church, as soon as someone from the church gets involved with the state it's a huge issue they get called out on it. Yet they consistently want the state to get involved with the church. Where does this double standard come from. I don't give to shits about your sexual orientaion I don't, if your confused and are convinced that your pecker was made to go in another mans shit hole then have at it I could careless but don't make it law that I have to be as twisted as you are. I'm not confused one bit as to what a dick is for and I have the right to raise and teach my children those same values. Keep the state out of the church and the church out of the state it's that simple.

How true, it's your ball but if you don't play by my rules, I'm taking it and going home. They want a free country for everyone to live in, under their rules and laws. They just refuse to see, that's not freedom. It will not last because every year there are more rules, and one day freedom's gone and people will rebel. Nothing learned from history, just repeat and play the game over again.

 Too much Birdding

Walleye you are right on ....my wife says I'm a Homophobe
I thought it meant ,I never want to stay in the house.
I'm always out hunting lol. It's not only the stupidity
Of the left (  Liberals and NDP ) but the media should be
Incarcerated . I believe in freedom of the press and speech
but if you hold yourself up as the voice of a nation ( CBC )
    have some common sense .
I predict much like the US situation, when right
return to power provincially and nationally ...there will
Be separations and armed conflict ....so keep your powder
       dry boys
