The elk is just playing around and so is the photographer.  Still the guy could have got an accidental poke.

Teaching the elk to interact with people along a road is probably not a good thing though.

Wow.  Lucky he didn't get skewered.  I am not sure his intent was to teach the elk anything though.  Looks to me like he was set up to get some pictures of the elk.

Perhaps is intent was to photograph the elk in the beginning but then it looks like his intent was to be a star on u-tube, playing with the elk.

Intent to teach or not the elk probably learned that humans and roads are not as dangerous and scary as he thought.  Which is not a good thing for a wild animal to think.

His intent is total fabricated speculation on your part.  You have no idea what he is thinking, I would speculate that he didn't even know the videographer or that he was being taped so its a stretch to think he wants to be a "u-tube" star.

Anyway it was a cool experience for him and one you would have liked yourself.  Any interaction with people and roads that wild animals walk away from can be a good or bad learning experience for them.  I don't disagree that it probably shortened the life expectancy of the elk but its not our place to say what the persons intent was.

Enjoy the video for what it is.

You can speculate and I can speculate .  And I would not have liked the experience.

weeman, do you have anything intelligent to say about the topic of the thread?  Do you have anything to say about the topic?  Do you have anything to say?  Do you have anything, other than a "pile"?

I saw this a couple of months ago and it had stated that the elk was put down. Never a good idea to interact like that with wildlife, although I don't know if his intent was to end up that close to one or not.

Weeman and Deerman, cut the BS or take it to a PM. No one wants to read that stuff.

Bonnie, I think this one has been around for awhile. Do you recall where you read the elk was put down?

Tuc, sorry I responded to his BS (quite literally).  I should have just ignored it.

But I am wondering, would you have said anything about it, if I had not responded?

As for the elk video thanks for sharing it.  The point I was trying to make on the subject was that I did not believe the man was in much danger and he apparently didn't think so ether.  It seems obvious that he could have got up and scared the elk away with a shout and a wave of his arms.  So he was prolonging the contact with the elk.

If the elk was later destroyed because it had lost fear of man and was therefore causing a problem then that reenforces what I hinted about wild animals must stay wildish for their own good.

That's the issue.  You try to make issues where there aren't any.  The question is purely speculative and creates conflict no matter how it is answered.  This passive/aggressive questioning you use is antagonistic.  Maybe you think its thought provoking, idk, but it is definitely not well received.

\You do understand that when I said what you quoted "But I am wondering, would you have said anything about it, if I had not responded?" - See more at: http://albertasportsman.com/index.php?action=post;quote=31114;topic=4346.0#sthash.XiqqyOpz.dpuf

I was talking about responding to the post that weeman had made right.  So how was my question speculative and creating conflict?

Again Tuc perhaps I should have just ignored the post that is off topic and directed at me rather that the discussion of the elk.  I will not again.

Robin, it seems you are always in a debate with someone over many topics on this forum. Sometimes you start them with your borderline comments/attitude, sometimes you don't. It's apparent some don't like you here, I would suggest ignoring them or directing your comments to their PM. This also applies to the other side, if you have a problem with Deerman, do the same. The back and forth banter isn't good for the forum. Stay on topic and try to be nice to one another. We already got rid of a few trouble makers here and the mods will continue to do so (when deserving) to help this forum grow.

The rules are lenient, all that's asked is be respectful.

This isn't the exact article I had read where the video was posted, but same conclusion. The one I had read didn't have the guys perspective on it though. This one is interesting for that. No more speculating.  http://digitaljournal.com/article/362256

I love it how you guys on here that have been banned from AO, refer to AO as "the zoo", yet every second thread on here ends up with the same 3-4 clowns arguing and hurling insults, or in this case piles of dung lol.  Hilarious.

You seem to be infatuated with AO history.  Your posts on this forum so far indicate that.
Perhaps, if you feel so strongly about these members that you speak of, take it up with them via pm.
Your post just reinforces the exact disrespect that you are making light of.  Kind of like the pot calling the kettle black if you know what I mean.  You have been warned about this before if you recall.

We have a very simple rule set and philosophy that we hope all members follow:

From our forum owner, Paul:

"What forum rules? Be decent to others? That's about the only rule we have."

Please....Back to talking about our elk on this thread folks.
