Where were you 13 years ago?
« on: September 11, 2014, 09:50:02 AM »
I was visiting at my son's house that day.I made a coffee and turned on the tv and holy smokes the tower was on fire and they said a plane flew into it.
I didn't catch it all but then the second tower was also hit with a plane and the first thing I thought of was this is no accident, this is war.

A sad day indeed. :'(

I was in Lloydminster and watched it happen live on ABC morning news. Having a few more calls to make on my way home, I went through CFB Cold Lake. Every CF18 that was available on base was armed to the hilt, idling on the taxiways to all three runways. Just seeing that, and knowing what OUR pilots are capable of with that equipment shook me. Realizing, upon seeing what they were equipped with, and the individual capablilities of the pilots in their particular piece of equipment, rattled me to the core. I would not like to have OUR RCAF on my rear end!!! They, by any and all accounts, are THE BEST in the world, bar none!!

I was down by Taber. We were racking the rig in the trucking companies yard (Circle D ) and the wife phoned me freaking out. So of course I put the radio on and yah quite the scene. Headed home that afternoon and that's all we watched for a couple days..

I was at work.  My wife was at home with our daughter who was about 5 months old.  She kept calling and giving me the updates.  I had flown back from Pittsburgh the previous day.  very surreal when it was all happening.

On our way home from the base, stopped in the Hat to pick up firewood.  Guy there told us, we turned on the radio.  Glad nothing happened yesterday.  With all the supporters living here I quite frankly was surprised nothing happened in N. Am.
