Some of the Olympics is interesting and exciting to watch.  I am looking forward to watching hockey and curling.
Some of it leaves me cold.  The figure skating for example.  Really I don't care for most all the "judged" events.

The fastest down the hill wins the race.  The quickest around the track wins the race.  Who ever scores the most goals wins the game.  To me that is what  competitive sport is all about.  Too bad they spoil ski jumping by giving "style points".  The longest jump should win.

Events when the flash and dash impresses the judges, is something else.

My God,, what is happening to me,, I am agreeing with Duffy again lol..

But seriously yes I am with you on this one,, I don't trust judges way to much controversy over the years. Just a straight out winner or loser it's cut and dry..

A business friend who judge boxing at the last summer Olympics was in fear of his life  :o due to some threats that were made to another judge. He had commented to me that he would never go there again.

I was watching that biathalon and couldn't help but notice how fancy those .22LR rifles were that they were using.  It appears that they are an open sight system too.  I think they shoot 50 meters but the target is smaller when they shoot from the prone position. The action on those rifles is pretty slick too.  It would be neat to shoot one of those.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

When does ice fishing become a new Olympic sport?   ;)
Catching some of those big perch in Siberia would be a blast.
Might have to compete against Putin though..... ;D

The event would start out drilling a hole through several feet of ice with a hand auger  (bin there done that!)
Hopefully the competitors would not be wearing flashy costumes and have "love story" for background music.

Women's hockey Canada beat finland 3-0. They turned it on late in the third period. :)

Period one was "disappointing"
Period two was "down right scary"
Period three was a welcome relief.  The Canadian girls looked dominant for the most part.

They better not play under top gear against the better teams.
