Another ice shack build
« on: December 16, 2014, 06:10:34 PM »
Well some of you may remember my ultimate ice shack build a couple years ago, that unit went to a very lucky guy at Slave Lake, you will probably see it at the narrows on Lesser Slave most the winter.

Now that we have our safety mark for building trailers, we are going to be putting together a truly ultimate ice shack, tandem drop spindle axles with drive in skis. I looked at those units that lower themselves to the ice and was less than impressed with how they work and the lack of a solid axle, so my plan is to build it low and use the catch cover sleeves, just like we did in the skid shacks we did. Some features of this next unit

- Tandem drop spindle Dexter axles, 15" tires
- Heated and insulate black and grey holding tanks
- RV shower and toilet
- 5 holes, sleeps 4 with fold down benches and a set of bunks
- All LED lighting inside and out
- Dual 6 volt batteries with solar system and charger/inverter
- Double pane smoked glass windows
- On demand hot water heater
- Sink and external fish cleaning table with external hose for washing table
- 32" LED TV
- Pioneer DVD head unit, 1600 watt amp, 2 interior coax speakers with sub, 2 exterior coax marine speakers
- Fold down rear bumper rack with auger clamp system and small generator enclosure
- Dual 30lb propane bottles
- etc etc

So as always I will document the build, starting with the first photo of the axles in the shop, stay tuned...

Right on, Paul!
I always say a project started is a project half done.
Can't wait to see the progress.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Getting the main frame done, went with 4 x 2 x 1/4" tubing main rails, this is to keep the floor low enough for the catch cover sleeves, will do an 8" heated subfloor under the bathroom for the grey and black tanks.
