BC Salmon Fishing
« on: February 24, 2014, 05:36:49 PM »
I'm wondering if the BC guys on here could point me in the right direction. When is the best time to fish Salmon in BC, and where? I've got a whole bunch of air miles I want to use up so I was thinking about flying over and maybe renting a cabin somewhere and taking day trips. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.....
Thx!

Just about anyplace on the west side of the island during the last two weeks of July or first two weeks of Aug Tuc and you can't go wrong. Are you planning on chartering ?? If you are you better start booking because prime times fill up fast. If you want secluded look at some lodges in Nootka sound, you can fly to Comox, jump in a rental and head to Camble River and most will pick you up there or some may even pick you up in Comox. Google Nootka sound lodges many to choose from and all are good places. If you want a bit of entertainment with a few good restaurants then Tofino is a nice place. In Tofino you have the choice of lodge or motel room and hiring a guide,, which can be a little more affordable than the lodge thing. You want some of the best fishing on the west coast for your dollar hands down, in a nice town with a few decent restaurants,, then Ucluelet is the place. Book into a decent motel with kitchen option and book with a local guide or charter company like Big Bear.

I will say this and trust me on this,, the west coast of the island has as good of fishing as anyplace on the coast and can be done at a fraction of the cost as most places on the coast. Hali, Cod, Chinook, Coho,, big Coho all out there.

If you need any info or help choosing a charter or a guide or info on some of the lodges / motels, I know the areas quite well and a few people I will be glad to help you narrow it down..

Google is your friend,, but again,, better get at it prime times book fast you will already be pushing prime dates and dates are what it's all about, don't get sold on some guide selling you time in June.. If your not sure drop me a line before committing.. My cabin was booked over a month ago and I had to adjust my dates a bit.. I book according to tides in conjunction with where I am going to be fishing,,, it's a science that fishery and it's expensive may as well have the odds in your favour.

bump!!!!
hey guys!!!
i am now also looking for any hints or recommendations you all have.
we're looking for an all inclusive drive to charter that will get us on all the species.
most important features - need to be all inclusive, need multi-species(love them bottom fish!), need to be drive-to, like to stay around the $2000 per person range
any input?
thanks and cheers,  gw
