Never fished Buck Lake south of Drayton Valley but I would like to try it.

Anyone fished/camped there before?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.. ;)

hey sonny... basically grew up there and have fished it many times... my grandparents used to commercial fish it in the winter in the 70s 80s and early 90s... they both decided to stop because of conservation issues but off topic.... there is a big bay on the northeast end of the lake( the northenmost bay because there are 2 bays on the northeast end) is a total walleye hole... usually 8-13 ft of water and the walleye are pretty thick... if your looking for pike anywhere along the shore ... i love the east side of the lake... it seems to produce alot better...

as for camping it depends what your looking for... if you want to camp alone or in the campsites... the campsite right accross from the rodeo grounds is great... family freindly... there is a really nice dock and boatlaunch there... this is right in town and you cant miss it

Growing up, we always went to Buck on long weekends. We camped on the north end of the lake @ the Provincial Park Campground. We would camp on a bit of a point there, and be able to leave the boat tied up and in the water right next to our camp.  Fishing is good in Calhoun Bay, right off the weed point in the middle of the bay on the east side. There are tons of 'eyes up to about 21 inches in there.

X 2 what Chris has to say , camp at the provinchal park , and fishing the Big bay a little south of the campground , caught a few walleye in there a few years ago when I fished a tournament there . Also another bay further east particular right infront of a big ass log cabin , we sat there all day pulling walleye out of that area , and just drifted with a Drift sock . Worked well .

Whole group of us were out there for 4 days last week . Seen a couple of nets out in the lake. Campground was just full on Wednesday when we got there . I fished this lake a couple times every year, fishing was very slow, Did not see anyone cleaning fish at  all on saturday. only caught one legal walleye in 4 days.(10 hrs a day)
Hopfully lake gets better in July. Will not return to this lake this year .

Homewreaker, haven't seen you around in years. How ya been?

I never fished Buck but a buddy of mine has a cabin there and he says the fishing is slow. I think that lake gets alot of pressure.

Just got back from a 2night camp out at Buck Lake. This was our first time there so maybe we weren't fishing in the right spots but yeah the fishing was really slow and no keepers even.
It's still a nice lake and we had a good time tho. ;)
