I got out on the open water as well but I'm a little further south.

Ya, sure is good to feel the bend in the rod again in open water.  :)
Paul and I got out for a couple of hours this evening and the rainbows were hungry.
10 landed between us, 5 each today.  He was float fishing while I was lindy rigging.
Fish were nice 3 pounders.  Kept one to top up my next smoker batch;  I still have a few frozen from the winter to smoke yet.
Some pics:

Axe called me yesterday to rescued me from never ending work. Spring start up for fishing is crazy this year. It was a fun fish for few hours. Rainbows quite aggressive. Looking forward to his smoked fish recipe.. :)

I'll keep the offer in mind.  I was hoping to come up the first two weeks of June but seems like plans are changing :(  The wife thinks we should consider looking for another place to live instead of fishing.  Oh well we shall see and maybe still make it up in the summer.

I love mini jigs and big fish due too... only problem is like you say the hooks are pretty like and do bend sometimes.  Maybe you need to create one with a slightly heavier hook although I know it kind of defeats the purpose of being super light.

Sure thing, Wildman.  I can take a guest down there once in a while.
I have admired your trout adventure pics for a long time now.
It would be great to fish with you for a bit.  PM me and we will talk.
