Fishing from Shore
« on: June 10, 2011, 10:42:02 AM »
Hey Everyone, i just bought a tent trailer so im looking to head out next weekend to test it out.
Im wondering what lakes around Edmonton (with in an 1.5 hours of the city) has some good shore fishing.
I am a C&R fisher so type of fish doesnt matter to me.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Carson Lake would be a good bet, and it's easily fished from shore.  Using a rig that rests on bottom with a small hook and a little ball of powerbait works well.  There is a provincial park there, and people fish from shore on the West side of the lake, just down from the boat launch.  Cast out and wait, and you can catch some decent trout.

I've never been there myself, but I've heard there's some decent shore fishing for walleye at Pigeon.  C&R only unless you've got a tag.
Just puttin' it out there...

Hey Geezle, where abouts on Pigeon is good for shore fishing? since the lake pretty shallow around the shore line?
I would be staying at the Provincial Park.

Just out from the PP is where a lot of the fishing is done. There is a drop off in front of the PP. Why not offer to put some gas into somebody's boat and they may take you out?

I would be more than willing to put offer up some gas money.
but looking at the weather it looks like the camping/fishing trip is going to be on hold for a couple of weeks  :(

Well I respectfully disagree, you just need more "pops". LOl. Anyways hope you get out and I hope you catch something.
