made it out to a northern pothole lake on saturday.
morning was glassy calm.
hooked up with the first 2 mins after launching!! just a wee 10" bow.
the first hour was good!!! landed 5 and missed as many hits.
all this year's stock except one fat 17"er!!! had a hog in the 5lb class on that dragged me into the deep, jumped, and spat the hook....&^%$!!!!
the next few hours were slow and really windy. landed a few more 10-15"ers. found them in deep water for the next few hrs.
late afternoon i saw some surface feeding in the shallow weedbeds.
started working the weeds and instantly hooked into a heavy fish. soon as i stung him he was 2 feet in the air!!!
long hard fight on the 6wt and netted a fat 18"er!!!
in the next hour i doubled my catch ##s for the day!!
including a second 18"er, a 20"er and a 21"er!!!
big, super-fat hogs!!!
they were gorging in the shallows...fast and furious action with lots of jumps and hard, deep runs.
maybe the last open water trip of the season???
