King crab around Prince Rupert
« on: June 07, 2011, 08:38:06 PM »
We're heading up to Prince Rupert later in the month for some more world class ocean fishing. We usually drop the crab traps and do very well with Dungeness crabs.  :D This has me wondering about making a try for king crab. From what I've read, king crab (or golden crab) are found in northern bc and even as far south as Washington!

Has anyone here tried for king crab in BC? If so, some help would be appreciated!

How deep? Where can we purchase king crab pots/traps?

Doug, I don't know specifics but my dad told me the guy he usually fishes with out there has been picking up a few king crab, I will try get some details as I am hoping to book a trip for Koho and Halibut late July early August and will be calling the guy.
