Mary Gregg Lake
« on: June 17, 2018, 03:24:07 PM »
Rode the quad in to Mary Gregg lake and in less than a half hour I had my limit of pan size rainbows. The biggest was 16 inches but the rest were only 12-13 inches.
Think I'll put them in a brine overnight and tomorrow I put them in the smoker.Should be tasty. :)

Geez that looks nice sonny. Looks like your getting the most out of your summer.
Rainbows look just fine pan size to me.

Hi Sonny, thats awesome. This the lake South of Hinton? I have walked in but would love to pull the canoe in with a argo. I thought is was an atv no go area.

Thanks for posting.

Riding in to the lake is legal but just don't go onto the mine lease that's a big no no.

The day I was there two guys were trolling cowbells in a 12 footer and they were doing pretty good.Go ahead and pull your canoe in with your argo and let us know how you made out.

I've heard "ahem" rumors that there "could" be some biggins in there. 8)

I see they stocked 750 browns in Mary Gregg in  2012 . They put 1000 browns in Pierre Grey in 2011 and guys are still pulling the odd one out . It would be nice to see them stock a few more lakes with brown trout on regular basis .

Ok I seen you there but I didn't recognize you with the hat and dark glasses.  8)

I was in the 12 footer with red sides and I passed you just before the narrows. Then 15 minutes later I turned around and headed the other way.Now I know what your boat looks like and if I see you again I'll give you a holler. ;)

Hey sonny that's a beautiful little lake of yours . Finally made it out there yesterday and luckily I missed the turn off and ran into a giant herd of rams on the road at the mine . I hauled my kayak in and was thankful that Barry Mitchell's info was incorrect and it wasn't a 2 km hike in. Took me a while to dial in which fly to use but got steady action after that. Lost what would have been my personal best rainbow for the fly rod about 10 feet from the boat, a 20 + incher , my turrets kicked in, lol . Also got a hard strike that snapped me off later on in the day , hopefully it wasn't the brown trout I was looking for . Lost count after a dozen , and was impressed with the hard fighting trout with lots of air time . I let them all go as I still have some Pierre Grey brookies in the freezer. The tea colored lake probably saves a lot of fish , didn't see any ospreys or eagles , just a couple of loons . Sorry , no pics guys.
