Plan to hit the PP at Pigeon tomorrow to fill the last walleye tag and then head to Gull saturday and try for some perch and pike. Good luck to everyone heading out this weekend!

Paul (Weeman) and I made it out to Wabamun on Good Friday afternoon and fishing was good. Drove on at the townsite end and went to a spot I figured there would be some bigger fish. Driving took 4x4 for sure but wasn't too bad in the Jeep. We had to go out a few kms. We got set up in about 8 to 10 FOW on a nice weed flat, and set up the tip-ups with some big bait and started jigging with smelts on rubber tailed jigs. It wasn't long before we had a couple of big fish on. That was an interesting double header to get things started. The fish bit pretty good all afternoon and we landed quite a few nice thick fish. The fish had no problems hitting some quite large bait.
The weather was awesome, it was actually too hot for a while. Teeshirt weather with no wind at all. Brought the stove and had a kolbasa fry on the tailgate which of course got interrupted by the biggest fish of the day on a tip-up.

It was fun day. Axe even cooked some of his world famous sausage.
The pike I caught is the biggest one to date. I would like to thank Axeman for guiding and finding big snot rocket's.
Not sure what the weight would be ? The big one I caught was on my ice polar tip. The line was painful to hold while it fought with me. Next trip I need to bring sun screen to protect my face and more brew-skies.

Managed to hit Pigeon at the Provincial Park and things were pretty slow for the most part. One little pike and that was it. Did some exploring in a new to me area and ended up getting a few walleye with one that was tagable. Was about to pack up and try somewhere else but right at the crack of 5:00pm things got busier.
Packed up the family and headed to Gull today in hopes of catching some big perch and pike. Hit a little out of the way spot that has been pretty good the last couple of years but the fishing was a little frustrating. They were around but just not really in the mood. The boy managed a keeper pike but that was about it.
Great couple days fishing though couldn't ask for better weather and I didn't have to hand auger any holes as some parts for the old strikemaster finally showed up Thursday. A couple new carb parts as well as new blades and she burns a hole like brand new.
