Was out in your area yesterday Sheep, 4-6" is correct, and although the brookies weren't biting all that well, it was still good to be out there catching them.   :)

The ice is fine at couple of lakes that are located in a valley with tall hills. Chickaroo and Sauer are around 4 to 5 inches thick. It was a lot of fun catching brookies at Chickaroo.

We were out at Birch.  Last year it was great fishing, and hardly anyone out there till like mid december.  This year the parking lot was half full when we got there...

It sure gets hammered hard now, and it is quite noticable in the quality of fishing. Run into a F&W officer out there a couple years ago and he actually told me that since word got out about Birch on the internet, fishermen have been swarming it

We know very well that ice is not safe in my life but we want to play with ice with a very short period of time. It is a very interesting game. we also know that ice game is a popular game in the cold place  like Kashmir , london ,Africa, etc It is the place where people likes the ice game. Thanks to read my comment

Yeah, it don't take long for things to go to shit when it hits the net about a lake being good fishing.  Fortunately it didn't look like many guys were catching anything, and even last year guys were complaining they couldn't catch much.  So maybe word will get out that its not that good, and people will forget about it for awhile, and things can go back to the way they were...

Maybe if guys werent so dam greedy and try and keep their limit on every outing things would be better out there. We keep about two good trout feeds for the family a year. The rest are all released. I love eating them but id way rather have lots to catch. But with so many guys more interested in eating so the fishing is slowly getting worse. Lots of room for everyone to fish out there and its good that lots of people enjoy it but there needs to be better limitations on people to protect our fisheries.

I tried a couple of Brookies out of Birch last year, and they tasted like mud.  Now I'm strictly catch and release for them.  I'd way rather be able to come back time and time again and pull big fatties out, than catch little guys by the bucket full...
