257 Weatherby reloads
« on: July 10, 2016, 12:08:55 PM »
Looking for some info on 257 Weatherby reloads. I have been shooting Weatherby factory spire point ammo for the last while. A few years ago (the last time I shot a deer with s rifle) I shot a whitetail at very short distance & the bullet literally blew up on impact.
So I recently got dies to start making hand loads. I used to only reload at one time so it is not new to me.
I am looking for info on 80-100grn reloads with great velocity & pretty tight groupings. I know all rifles are different but I don't intend on purchasing 4 different powders to try when I shoot the gun 3 times every 5yrs.
Any and info is welcome
Rifle is Weatherby accumark.
Thanks

Paul

My dad did a lot of tweaking loads for the .257 in 100 grain, let me look through my tickle trunk of inherited ammo and see what he had worked out, he said it was a really good load, hopefully he documented it as good as he usually did, but no promises Snapshot he got a bit scattered towards the end.

73.5gr rl25 and 100gr e-tip worked great in mine, work up as always. I am now shooting 100gr swift scirroco's with 75.5gr h1000 @ 3455fps. tight groups, work up and enjoy. Both like to be seated deep.
