338 RUM unleashed
« on: March 01, 2015, 02:44:24 PM »
After a few weeks of Devcon bedding, ring lapping, installing and setting up the new trigger, and gathering reloading components, etc, I finally got around to shooting my new 338 RUM today. It was windier than I would have liked, but managed to send some lead downrange on the farm anyhow. I'm quite happy with how it is shooting. With the new Limbsaver recoil pad and the muzzle brake, the recoil is very low. Seems to group well (at least when I don't pull). The next calm day around here will find me dialling it some more.

It looks to have excellent potential. I had the trigger set at 20 oz. It was a little light for my liking, so I brought it up more. I'm not used to a trigger set that low, so we will see what practice does.

I worked up a few different loads (all with 250 gr Accubonds) to try when this wind subsides.

It came down to the wire, but I was able to launch a couple of A-bombs at a moose with my .338 RUM. It, and the bullets performed well. Man- that is a fun gun!!!
