Does your Mosin shoot high?

Well most Mosin Nagant 91/30 rifles do but there is a simple fix that will have you shooting like Vasily Zaytsev in no time at all. ;)

Take a piece of 12 guage electrical wire and strip off a piece of the insulation.Twist the piece of insulation down over the front post of your Mosin.Next you'll have to go to the range and with some small snips start to snip it down.Shoot a few shots and repeat snipping down until the correct height is achieved.

You can also use white insulation if you prefer.

May have to take advantage of this, just picked up a beautiful 91/30 mosin with sniper marks/ the repair welds on the side. Barrel looks great, wood is great, numbers all match, hoping for a shooter. Anyone else seeing some nice 91/30's right now? What's the going price? I may go pick up a second one as there was one more with cool wood. May have a bit of a refinishing project on my  hands.

Last Boxing day I picked up a cool 1930 Hex at Calgary shooting center. It was factory refurbished after WW2 and then put away in storage waiting for the day that it was needed in the great war with the West which hasn't happened yet..yet.....did I say yet?

Anyway the wood looks really good on it and I wouldn't dare try to refinish it and that goes for all my milsurps.

Also you may want a m38...they are great flame throwers..lol ;D

Yeah, that looks like fun. I have my new one taken apart to strip the cosmoline right now, going to touch up the stock a bit and go shoot it asap. I do have an older what i believe to be M44 which is very rough (wood cracked, numbers don't match, etc) which does have a good bore. May turn that one into something a bit less historically correct but will see, sure see a lot of negativity about "sporterizing" any war guns.

Sounds like buddy went and got himself some Tapco or ATI stocks and now he wants to get rid of these.

But that's not a bad price though. ;)

Was this ever fun to clean up! Tons of resources online for these guns, everything was taken apart, cleaned, polished, oiled and re-assembled. Makes it sound like a quick process but cosmoline takes forever to disappear completely. I stripped the stock, sanded it very very lightly as not to remove any markings and applied a light coat of stain (pecan). Sealed it with 5-6 coats of minwax antique furniture oil and I am really happy with how it turned out. The bore looks crazy good, can't wait to get it out on the farm and see how it shoots. I have a spare bolt/ parts so next part of this project will be a turned down bolt for it (headspace seems great with either bolt). We are going to make a few handles on a friends lathe and see what looks good. Not until after I test it though, need the field to dry up a touch so hopefully next week.

Looks good SG and if you want info on Mosins this is a great site to visit..http://7.62x54r.net/

Mosins have a way of growing on you.maybe because they are cheap to buy and cheap to shoot.I'm halfway through my second crate of milsurp ammo. ;)

And if you want softpoint ammo the best deal I found is at Westrifle.com

For $85 you get six boxes (120 rounds) of 200gr softpoint and FREE delivery
