That does look like fun Sonny and have no experience with high or low end AR15's but fine lookin gun to me.

Like that 10g as well Lever they have always interested me.  Do they give a guy any more range or mostly volume of shot?

Looks like a fun gun sonny,I will never understand the fear of the so called Black rifle. As for the 10G OL, more shot volume I think, although it kicks like a mule. I think the new magnums in 3 1/2 reach out a bit more.

Gee Sonny, I wonder what makes your AR more bad than the pre C68 non-restricted one I  owned and used when helping my cousins and neighbors during calving season years ago ;).  I still like the AR over the Ruger A-Team special.  It's like some trucks are nicer than other trucks is the way I look at it.

Have fun.

Todays addition is a Remington 700. ( notice the trend here ) in 30-06. This was the 100th anniversary run that Remington did in '06. Topped off with a Leupold VX II. This was my pack gun for a couple years. Shoots good and looks sexy, what else is there. The wife bought this one for me as a gift at Christmas in '06.

That is a good looking gun,in a great caliber. Some people don't like the SS with the wood stock but I'm a fan of the look. I am not big on the plastic stocks,  although I understand the durability aspect of it to a point, but I have 60 year old every day hunting rifles and the wood looks as good as the day it was made, so the durability is there. I have always considered a gun a work of practical art, so it needs to be wood.

Sonny

Don't go with an MG42
You want an MG34
The machining in the MG34 is far superior.
How do I know?
I worked in a sporting goods store where the gunsmith "Art Boyce" was deactivating those beautiful works of engineering and machining due to Papa Trudeau's  1977 grandfathering act for full auto firearms.

I was told that such precision and dedication to quality firearms was one of the down falls of the Germans.

I think there might be some truth in that assertion

Nice stock. Is that a Nutmeg laminate from Boyds?

Sonny, yes it is and the fit is perfect . I have had good luck with them but that was a few years ago.My only complaint on this one is it is heavy. The one on my 270 is much lighter, but it was called a light weight and the 22-250 was not.

Finally got photobucket to work reliably, had to downloada plugin about a dozen times.   :o

Anyway, few yrs ago sister had a coyote problem with her chickens.  I looked around for something that wouldn't break the bank and found this online from a BC retailer that was clearing them out for the new model.
Nothing, "cool" but kinda unique in it's own way, it's a Mossberg Maverick Rifle in .243.  Coupled with hornady's vmax 58gr it's a coyote killer at almost unbelievable distance.  Would have look but pretty sure the MV is over 4000fps.
Put a basspro house brand 4-12 on it.
Like most of the, I guess you'd say, entry level guns around now as the barrel heat up so does the group, but for the first couple it's a true tack driver at distance and let's be frank, if you don't get a coyote in the first couple it's in the next county anyway.

The action is surprisingly nice, have had other same price point rifles before and I'd personally choose this over them, not sure why they stopped making it.
I've only put about a box through it, 7 or 8 to break it in, make it maybe a dozen total to get it sighted in nice, 4" high at 100 yds, shot 6 coyotes and simply haven't used it since.

Good rig. With today's good factory ammo, and the steel they make barrels out of it great a person doesn't need to break the bank to have a good gun. And you proved it's done it job for what you bought it for. Thanks for the look, and I think you may go to chicken heaven. (well at least a peck on the cheek from the sister.)

Good weapon Bruce, doesn't have to break the bank to work and be practical. I've got a couple lower end dog guns that work just fine as well.
