Just like Christmas sonny making a guy wait to see whats under the tree. This week is two of the same except different. Stevens Favorite Model 71, 22 short and long. I picked these up in 1976, one is a user the other is a looker. Neat little guns to shoot and learn with. These  were my two girls Favorite gun when they started out shooting around age 4 or 5.

What a pair of beauties, I am amazed at the variety of rifles. Anyone have a Wickliffe? I have always wanted one and only held one in 22-250 once. Was not for sale, that was 30 years ago.

I have a Wickliffe in 25-06 The only thing it ever shot was gophers on a windy day. It shoots lighter lead with no problems but when I went to heavier lead I started to have primer problems. It did start me on ruger #1's so it is not all bad.

Coachman, any pics you could post. Some models had some unusual graphics. Thanks

I have never tried here, I live in the sticks and do not have the best of service. I can send Sonny a picture on the phone if he wants to repost. But it is a plain jane.

Really enjoy the pics if I ever figure out another site since photobucket crapped the bed I'll contribute.

.....and nothing is ever, "run of the mill", they're all cool and have a story.

Cool shotgun sonny, love the emblem. Now you can get a job riding shotgun for the Hinton Express. My Winchester defender is made in Turkey, It's made well and I have had zero problems with it.

Hey coachman is that gun an 1885, I can't really tell in the picture. I have two of them and love em. Any single shot gun is a good gun in my opinion. Keep them coming, the picture is ok I think, just my eyes have traveled to many miles.

I do not remember if there was a model on it when I bought it. It was on the store shelf for a couple of years, right after I took it home I had a lot of people call and want it. Because of that gun I then bought a Ruger #1 in 220 swift. Before that all I had was BLR"s

This weeks addition is a Remington model 700 BDL in 300 RUM. Sitting on top of it is a Leupold VX II 3x9x50mm an older VX II when they were one of their top models. This is a fine shooting 700 it still shows some quality from Remington which is more than I can say for some of the new ones. I was a Remington man for years but I have been disappointed in them the last few years. I packed this gun for quite a few years, I purchased it I believe the second year Remington offered the caliber so it's been a while. It just got to heavy for me the last few years as I have been doing a lot more walking and the recoil is a bit much for me anymore. It's not bad when shooting game but on the bench it's a killer. I killed a number of moose with this gun, if you hit it solid they don't move far with this one, it's a deadly cartridge. For those not that familiar with the cartridge I also show a pick of a 300 RUM shell alongside a 30-06 for reference.
