Ruger M77 with Leupold 3 x 9 vari x-ii in Win .270.
I have hunted with this gun for 25 years and it has never let me down yet so why change.
Shooting Nosler 140 grain AccuBonds lately on deer, moose, and elk.
In the past I always used 130 grain Sierra GameKing boat-tails with no problems.  I think only these forums led me to switch to the slightly heavier bonded bullets.

Darcy, what does your 280 rifle weigh?
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Darcy, what does your 280 rifle weigh?

Right at 7lbs with scope, rings , sling and swivels. That is with a 24"bbl. Could have gone lighter with a short action rifle but that action has a huge amount of history in the Caroline area dating back to one of the biggest grizz ever shot in Alberta being shot with it in the late 40's.  Also could have shaved some with a shorter lighter recoil pad but this one balances the rifle perfect and feels good to shoot.

SG would you be able to find out what kind of paint he used?  My deer and elk rifle will be a trg-s 300 rum and the mountain rifle that is in the works as we speak will be a light weight 7 wsm built off of a rem 700

Nice you can't go wrong with the 30-06 i would bet that its one of the most popular calibers and has put more meat on the table for hunters than any other caliber.

I bought a Tikka T3 in 7mm rem mag last year, haven't had much time with it. I put a Nikon Monarch Gold 2.5-10x50mm I love the scope but am not really used to the whole setup yet, I got the standard x-hair, not much for the BDC system, if a guy knows his rifle and his distances well enough I think all that high tech stuff is more of a hindrance.

Hunted with a Winchester model 70 7mm rem mag most my life, my dad bought it in 1965 and gave it to me when I turned 18, the stories that rifle could tell. Got tired of packing it around, it's a heavy pig, saving it for my son, still drives tacks I have reached out and touched a few deer with it at 400+ yards with hand loads. I took a bear on my cousins oat field at 500 with it.

My dad left me a bunch of guns including his 300 Weatherby, which he loved. He also bought a 257 Weatherby last year it's a great long range unit but lacks the hitting power. He left me another 7mm Winchester model 70 too with a muzzle brake on it, might have 60 or 70 rounds through it, probably going to sell it or trade it on something, don't really need another one.
