I am a big fan of a high ankle support that is fairly stiff when hiking in steep inclines and declines. I have had some Merrell's for everyday use but not for hunting or backcountry hiking.

for what it's worth. Zamberland 996 VIOZ GT. By far the most stable and comforable Boots, I have found.
Enough support for a day's hiking without a pile of blisters

Last set of Merrel's I had the rivets for the eyelets started popping out shortly after the 1 year warranty. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I haven't owned a pair since.
