Well, I broke down yesterday and scooped myself up another little low profile baitcaster.  After the issues I've been having with my Quantum Code I was quite leery about getting another Quantum reel, but for the price of this reel (on sale for $40) I figure even if it breaks I'm not out that much.  Plus, most of my gear that gets used on the river gets put through a lot of chit and abuse, so I have a hard time dropping a lot of money on an expensive reel that I'm going to end up dropping in the sand or on the rocks.

That being said I slapped it on a rod and gave it a short workout yesterday and I've got to say I'm very impressed.  It casts and retrieves buttery smooth, even with braided line.  As long as it holds up and doesn't break on me in the near future I think it'll be a good reel.  The only downside is when the old guy cut open the package he sliced the side of the reel and I didn't notice until I got out to the river.  It doesn't affect the working of the reel, but I'm still not super impressed 

If anybody out there is looking to get into a low profile baitcaster without breaking the bank, I think this one might be a good way to go

Why did you get another one? I told you, you can have the other one back.

If you're not using that other one though I still have a rod I can use it on

Adam with a little time you will love that reel give it a chance . We should plan a trip in the near future before the weeds at Coal lake are holy shit thick . Fish from shore fire out spoons and top water spinners and watch them light the night . Its so much fun even if they are 2 - 3 pounders  Funny thing is you cant reel fast enough before they hammer the hook . I refer to that lake and Pigeon as a Ego booster lake because its not hard to catch fish non stop all day long .

Sounds like fun. If the weather is decent this weekend maybe we could hit it up.

beauty what line did you choose again?

Uhhh...I think that one got 30lb Spiderwire.  I have too many different reels with different lines on them...it's getting tough to keep track of what's what, especially when you start getting into the spare spools!

What ever you do dont use that Pline shit that the fishing hole has . Im gonna remove 30 dollars worth of line on that thing . Its caused me nothing but problems and its very weak for braided line , from now on Suffex 832 or power pro . Nothing but . Also that Tuff line is pretty good to but Power pro of that suffex stuff. No more messing around with Fishing hole suggestions . In fact will be calling There tommorow to voice my displeasure with that line . It must of either sat out for 2 years or something . I can snap it by simply pulling it with gloves on .

Josh it was the South side store . Its defenetly p line , yellow junk at that . I would of useually got Power pro but they didnt have any bulk and I didnt wanna buy 2 rolls at 25 bucks a pop or whatever it is . So I went he bulk route P line he had and spooled it on there . I got that suffex on my new baitcaster I like it . Casts smooth , and it doesnt seem to attract junk on it like most other lines I think simply because its more rounder .

Im really happy with Power pro used that stuff exclusively until they set me up with that P line crap .

Maybee but I dont think so . Whatever it is is junk .
