Sufix Performance Fuse?
« on: May 14, 2011, 09:07:32 PM »
Just wondering if anybody's used this stuff before.  One of my spools needed some line so I randomly grabbed a spool of this stuff, mostly to see what it's about.  For the record I got the 20lb.

I only used it for a couple hours but so far I'll say that it's very much like Fireline.  Out of the box it seems pretty stiff and waxy but after a little use it seems to soften up.  I know Fireline has a tendency to fray pretty quick, so I'm really hoping that this stuff doesn't do that.  If it doesn't then it would be a very good cost effective alternative for those of you who like the Fireline :)

I'll update this thread in a week or two once I've got more use in on the line.
Just puttin' it out there...

sufix :20 pound test 6 pound mono equiv with the sufix plus the strand of gortex and the non dyed threads.

fireline: 20 pound test 8 pound mono equiv no gortex, dyed line, frays alot

thats my personal opinion on the two

Are you thinking of the 832?  The Performance Fuse is different line.

That Suffex 832 or whatever the number is is sweet stuff. Got it spooled on my new reel . 40 bucks later Ive got some sweet ass line on my big ass reel . I can cast that puppy out 208 yards without any issue . Give me time ill get it across the river .

Nice.  That's the stuff I put on that little black baitcaster, and so far so good.  That stuff is super soft, and reminds me a lot of Spiderwire.  Casts and retrieves super smooth and isn't as noisy in the line guides as the Fused stuff.  If I can get finished with work early enough today (I'm out and about doing stupid service work ::) ) then I may go for a hike and try to find a couple big pike to try it out on again :)

John, I would think you linecounter reads in feet, not yards.  208 yards is over 600 feet!  If you are casting that setup the length of two football fields, you should already be across the river!

Thats what I thought It shows left on the line counter a Y to the left of the numbers . Ill look again . Casting 600 feet is not what Im doing , More like 200 feet . Im gonna have another look .

Performance Fuse is all i use on my baitcasters, i only can recall one shit show backlash i had which ended up in a broke top section of my favorite St.Croix 7ft Heavy at Wylie Lake, i blamed that one on the suds. I love the stuff otherwise.

So far it's treated me well on the one reel I have it on.  For the price I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again :)
