A buck named Muffy
« on: June 15, 2011, 11:22:09 AM »
Just got my gfs first buck back from the taxi the other day and it turned out great. We decided to go with a pedestal mount so I built a nice little base for it. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.
She named him muffy because he had that big thick patch of hair on his head that older mature bucks get. We have some nice photos and sheds from him as he grew into a nice 4x4.
Enjoy!

Thanks! Lol but that's just my dinning room, I have a room of death but she's full so they are spilling out into the rest of the house! The missus doesnt mind because she now has one of her own on the wall lol

That mount ended up pretty good.  I saw it at Richards before it was painted.  I may have even worked on the cape but I can not remember if it was the whitetail I did or your mule deer.
It is a great looking deer!  Congrats on getting it home.
Are you doing a mount yourself.  I might be doing one in the next couple weeks.  I just got the hide ready and I worked on the forma nd got the horn set and septum done today.  She is all ready to slap together.  I plan on doing this one all on my own and see how she turns out.  I am pretty excited.

As soon as I find a cape I will be doing one on my own. Did you buy the separate nose peice or did you just cut the nose of the form and build the septum from that? I thinks thats most likely what i will be trying! Trying being the key word! Haha maybe when you start on yours I could stop by and maybe pick a few tips up!

Love it, congratulate her for her contribution. I favor the pedestal!

I just finished another mount yesterday.  It turned out better than I thought.  There are still some spots I am not proud of but being the very first that I was completely on my own I was happy with it.  I have to let it dry and then get some finishing on it.
I think you still have my number.  Give me a call and stop by the house with the forms and I can give you a few pointers.
