Are ya ready, are ya on him? did you get the kill shot?
« on: May 27, 2013, 12:41:28 AM »

I have Wild TV and enjoy watching most of the hunting shows and some of the fishing adventures.  But I do get a little tired of some of the dialogue.

Can't they come up with some signals to communicate when the camera man is ready for the hunter to shoot?

I recently watched a show where they wounded a bear at a bait because they were wanting to get some good footage and made a bad shot as a result.   :(    Too bad for the bear.

I think I watched that episode tnite too. Plain & simple...he shot him in the ass....it happens, what I got a kick out of was the string of excuses that followed lol. How about "gee, I screwed up & shot that bear in the ass" ? Lol.

Ive been around a little bit of filming for a show the last couple springs and I totally understand how tough it is to get all the stars to line up for a good kill shot & to a point I can understand the pressure they are under to make it happen....what I dont understand is airing an "oops" then trying to justify it lol.

Agreed.  Some of the dialogue is getting a little old.  And how many times can we see the same products being promoted.  I find that I can watching a hunting show in about 6 minutes when I PVR them and skip the "filler".

As for broadcasting an "oops", I gotta believe this would connect the shooter with the average hunter has had an "oops".  If you have never had an "oops" then you are either lying or haven't hunted much.

Hey Chris

Great drive home and thanks for helping me get Emily in a bear bait.  Although she didn't whack a bear, she had a blast and seems to be hooked on bowhunting.  2 Encounters with a 6' cinnamon at 10 yards and a wolf at 20 yards made some pretty good memories for her.  Still kicking myself in the butt for not thinking to shoot that wolf with the rifle.  LOL   And when I told her to shoot it, she argued with me that she didn't have a wolf tag.  Gotta love it!!

Wow, now that sounds like a great time!  We video all our hunts and see no need for the question.  A thumbs up is all that is needed or most often, as a cameraman you can tell when the shooter is ready and about to shoot so just make sure you are ready too!
