Getting in the mood.
« on: August 31, 2018, 06:28:52 PM »
Starting to get cold in the mornings the old hunting bug is starting to kick in big time. Fishing season is over for now it's time to burn some powder boys. Hope to get in a goose shoot when I get home next week. Will be starting to go through the gear to make sure it's ready to go. Our moose trip is planned for Oct 5th this year, can't wait.

Right on Walleyes.

Time to just sneak around and see what is in the neighborhood.

A ruffy or hun also makes a nice  stir fry with garden grown greens whilst snooping around.

There are a ton of Hun partridges around this year.  I went went for a walk to check on my trail cams and saw at least 60 of them in a few different batches.

This guy has been hanging around my tree stand the last week or so.
Not bad.  Big 3x3 with a split brow tine.  Fairly young deer though.

Yep, after a very busy summer of work(That I wasn’t suppose to be involved in)🙁 I am now back to semi retirement, and getting ready to hit the bush. Elk hunt begins on the 15th and moose the 1st of October. Been out the back of my place after birds and got a few. Glad the cool whether is here and can’t wait for those frosty mornings and animals moving. Good luck all, and pictures are mandatory with hunting trip post.😁

Nice to hear from you lever haven't seen you on the sight for quite some time. Can't wait to hear about your hunts this year my friend. On top of the moose hunt this year I also drew a southern AB mule tag so looking forward to that.

Yah it’s been a busy summer, work, new property and became a grandpa. Just seem to be out of touch with things. Glad to be contributing  again. Good luck with the hunts Walleyes looking forward to the stories.

Its been cold up here west of Fort St John to.  Running into hunters everyday while im working is not helping the next 25 days go fast until Im in moose camp.  One group up here had 4 bull moose tags and filled them on the long weekend.  Love seeing moose in the back of a tub trailer behind a quad but it also makes me jealous lol.  Had to run over into Alberta for a day for work near where we are going Moose hnting this fall and saw a nice 40 incher, that really got the fire going.  Wont be doing much (if any) whitetail this year due to work and a blue fin tuna trip the end of October, so it will just be moose camp for me this year which is the first time in 5 years (that's a sad statement lol).

After 5 years I'm betting you'll give the ground a great big kiss when you get to camp :D. Good luck Mike, and have fun going after them tuna.

Actually going to explore a new area that I did some work in for the past 2 winters.  Our old area doesn't have the moose numbers it used to and has lots of grizz, wolves, humans and takes way to long to draw now.  Takes a 5 where we use to go and takes a 3 for a guaranteed tag where we are exploring.  This way we can at least plan for 1 of us in our group of 4 to get a tag every year.

Had the grandkids out today, had them shooting the 22 mag. 7 year old granddaughter was flippen cans pretty consistently at 25 yards. The 5 year old grandson popped a couple but was happy just to be making some noise lol.

Need pictures Walleyes, anytime kids are doing things like this pictures are a must see. My 10 year old great nephew ask me today if we can go grouse hunting next Saturday. I’m all in for this one, going to be one of my best hunts this year.

Yes I know I was thinking I should of had the camera, some video of the girl flipping cans would have been fun. But by the time I thought of it we were well into the shoot.

Got all the gear out today and went through everything to ensure it's all ready to roll. Will head to work Wednesday for 2 weeks then when I get home will pack up and leave so I wanted to go through everything now so I'm not rushed when packing, best way to forget gear is to be rushed, I forget stuff easy enough. Went on line last night and got all our licenses and grabbed tags yesterday so that's all done. It's getting close.

Right on, I’m in elk camp now. Last  two days all rain, heavy wet snow at times and mud up to our arm pits. Nothing moving, no bugle. No fresh sign. Stating to subside now so hopefully next few days will get things going. Good luck on you hunt Walleyes.
