Well chalk one up for the new company im starting work for on the 3rd. Got word from my new supervisor to go ahead with my hunt! Gotta love when the patch is busy and they kiss butt a little to keep you happy.

Anyways the old pickup will be leaving the yard the 25th to head 18hrs to where we are gunna be hunting. Be up there until the 9th or so of Sept. Its a pretty untouched region so should be a good time.
Hope to notch the first big game kill for the .280AI.
And hopefully watch two new friend tag a couple full curl rams.
Lots of new gear to try out so even if we dont harvest anything the trip will be a great time im sure. Get to look at some totally new country and a little that I havent hunted since 1993.

Speaking of full curls hope some of the BC boys put some sheep on the ground today on the season opener! Got a bunch of buddies out there so hope their barrels got warmed up and there knives got a touch duller!

Good stuff man!

I leave on the 25th as well for my BC goat hunt. Hoping to watch 2 friends knock over a pair of Stone's sheep on the hunt as well. I'll be back on the 6th and most likely just in time for a southern AB sheep opening day where I'll do some running around for a day in K-Country (most likely) looking to see what I can find.

Should be a good time!! I've got 20ish hours at least of driving time as well (over 2 days) and cant wait till the 25th rolls around!

Look forward to the pics Rack. We are hoping for some good results but are also trying some country that very rarely gets hunted so is also a bit of a gamble but will be zero competition or pressure.

What side of the province you heading to? If your going up the alaska highway let me know and maybe ill see ya along the way or could forward a little area info.

Going to an area north of Mackenzie that I have spent 2 years in. Some very good country and should be fun getting back into it and seeing how its changed since I've been there in 2003.

The spot we are hunting till has almost zero resident pressure and just a bit of outfitter pressure. Should make for a good hunt if we can get back to where we wanted to get to and hopefully get into some sheep.

Well good luck on your trip man. Ill be about 250 to 300 air miles straight north of you and just a touch west.

Well I hit the backyard range today and the .280ai is ready for the trip. Main cross hair was ringing the gong at 300 and the bottom mil dot(scope has two mil dots) was dead on at 400yrds. Now just need to get up there and get some white in the scope.

Well I got the last of my gear and all of my food today. The pack comes in at 68lbs and im packed for 12 days. Thats everything including 4lbs of cape salt. The Eberlestock feels great with the load and will be right at 74lbs when the gun is in the scaboard.
Now just have to wait till departure day!

74 pounds, oh that makes my back hurt. I'm always within a day of the horses and have never gone up the mountain with more than 40 lbs, have come down some with heavier loads though. Sounds like you're set, should be a great trip, hope your pack is heavier at the end of your 12 days!
