Got The Bear Bait Going.
« on: April 18, 2016, 09:08:20 PM »
The oldest boy and I got our Bear bait up and going today. Took the grandkids out for a quad ride and spent a few hours in the bush getting things set up. We have been using the same site for 4 years now, its a good spot usually with no shortage of bears.

Pretty dry in the bush already its going to be a busy fire season I'm afraid.

Papas special cargo.

As you can see the old tree gets some activity lol.

How to bear proof a trail camera.

Heres one for Lever.. Took the little Winchester out for a breather and let er burn off about half a box of shells. It felt good its been  while since I had it out and shot it.

Wow, that tree got a pretty good work over.  Must be bears around.
Is that an Edmonton Eskimos cap on the young lad?   ;)  Taking after Papa I see.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Yes there are a few in the area axe. We usually get a good half dozen different animals on the cameras not counting cubs.

For us it's more just getting out than it is actualy killing a bear. We have been spring bear hunting archery only for about 20 years now and in that time I have personely taken 1 bear and our group maybe 4. It's been no lack of bears just lack of the right one. Myself I am holding out for a very unique colour phase not even sure what that color is I just want it different. It's more about just having the excuse to get out in the bush and play around. After a long winter in camps and no hunting it's just good to get out and this gives a guy some incentive. Come opening day of fishing well we don't bother much unless we happen to get one on the cameras that interest us then we may keep at it.

Will post picks when we get some coming in so we can all see what's out there.

Great pictures Walleyes, thanks for the leaver nod, Looked like a good day with the G-kids. Keep em shooting, don't let the Shinny Pony gang, take away their future. And that's a tree stand. You should show that to a few of those American "corn plot" deer hunters.
