What a hog boys, a real brute. Only problem is that boy may go a long time until he kills another like it lol.

Sooner, can't say enough and give you enough congratulations on a fine hunt that I enjoyed following to the fullest this fall. Please give your son a good pat on the back from an old moose hunter and tell him he has my utmost respect for holding out and obtaining the trophy he was after,  it takes a lot of nerve.

Again,, well done boys and thanks for taking us along on the hunt this fall.

Thanks Walleyes. I wish we could say he held out, we wanted too but in reality, he was the second bull he could actually shoot lol. Hunting gods shined on him. I warned him when he drew the tag. You get one of the big boys and you will spend a long hunting career trying to beat it. Well he has a challenge now. But one like this in the bank takes the pressure off. Thanks for the kind words all.

Sooner:

I went back to your initial posts and followed them through in a chronological order.

They make for a wonderful adventure story.

Well done to the young man, it's a special moment in time you had with your boy. And thanks for the play by play it was a fun read over a drink with each post. I had the grace to be with my two girls on their first kills. Not to many days I don't recall the fun and bond we shared. Your a good Dad Sooner.

Well were not quite done with this thread yet lol. Head was taken to a taxidermist and has been caped. Cape is being wet tanned for a future mount. Kid has to now work to pay for it lol. I paid the first $$$$ so we could get the process going. Next I will soak it and do a Euro for the time being. I will post some pics when the Euro is done.

Butcher day was Saturday and he is all packaged up with a nice amount for sausage and burger. One of the tenderloins has been aging in the fridge since harvest day. That will be supper tomorrow :)

Hi gents. For those that like scoring antlers(first time I have had to think about that lol), we went out to the Millet F & G horn score event yesterday just to put a number to the big guy. Came in at 187 0/8. If he don't shrink much, he will make the Ab min of 185. Kinda a cherry on top for the kids moose season. Off to the Wainwright base hunt later this week from Thurs to Sat. We will see if he can connect on his second big game animal harvest :) Hope to begin the Euro mount after we get the base hunt done. Pics will follow when done.

When your taxidermist teases you :). The kids moose from last fall is done. More pics once he is in his final resting spot :)

Big shout out to Solitude taxidermy. It's like xmas at my house while we wait to go pick the beast up.

Well the beast is back, now that he is on a temp wall, I can see just how huge he is lol. Now to move some antlers around to make room for his future resting spot. Darren & Carolyn of Solitude Taxidermy are top notch people. If you need work or a bird done, go see them. Great people.
