One of those magical weekends happened. Saturday, my 85 year young uncle got his best deer yet(and a good one for a life long meat hunter), from my blind and with my dads rifle. My 85 yr old dad went into a nursing home this summer, my uncle(call him that but he is dads best friend for over 55 yrs) had a drop shot at 120 yrds because my archery deer decoy plan worked perfect. Brings the bucks from the 200 yrd bush line closer to the blind but further away so we don't spook them.
Then on Sunday my 23 yr old son & I sat in the blind as he works on Saturdays. He got his first deer with me sitting beside him and with my rifle. The same one he used to get his first and a 54 inch moose a few years back(as noted in a thread back then).
Uncles buck at 12:05, sons at 2:05. Both bucks spotted this archery deer I use as a decoy and came right to it. I have been in the blind a few times by myself and other bucks have done the same. Have a lot of others on cams, great age class out there.
I didn't shoot those others because I wanted my uncle and son to have their choice of bucks, good thing uncle didn't shoot the tiny 3 pt when we drove into the first field. Can't believe how well it worked out with this blind location and decoy idea.
I will be in the blind this weekend, hopefully a bruiser looking for last minute love comes by. I think I will have dads and my rifle with me, I feel like taking the next one with his. I'm going to visit him tonite in the nursing home and will have some sweet pics printed off for him to see.
