wmu 438
« on: September 05, 2013, 06:55:38 PM »
I have just received an e-mail from SRD that indicates someone has been drawn 3 times for this trophy sheep draw.

"In WMU 438 Sheep, the same individual has been drawn in three or more years."

Lucky person. whomever it is.

Really!

Was there any mention if they are concerned about this situation.

It was like pulling hen's teeth just to get the info I received. They just kept repeating that it was a random draw.

Certainly an amazing feat and proof that the system is flawed. Who wants to bet they change the eligibility on that tag next year? Perhaps a 10 year ineligbilityif you get drawn?

Pretty sure he applied for partner tags with 20 other people who dont hunt Would increase his odds dramatically. His wife also has drawn this tag. 4 Cadomine tags in one house hold not likly to happen normally. All legal nut he deff beat the system

A letter should be sent to some of the sponsors maybe Hornady will answer my questions.  In the end it’s all about money time to fallow the money trail.

I haven't really looked into these partner tags but it doesn't look like you can do this for sheep unless you are under 17.

As well anyone who harvested a sheep last year is not allowed to draw a trophy sheep tag this year, so at this time I won't speculate as to the fact that someone who harvested a trophy sheep last has gotten a tag this year as I have no knowledge of that. But we doknow someone has drawn three or more times for 438 sheep.

This is not even possible once your win number is in the draw weather you are the primary or number 2,3, or 4 it can't be re-entered

Some years ago there was a situation where a group got goat tags a number of times in a draw.  There was all kinds of "speculation" and assumptions just like what is going on here.

Turned out the group had just been right on the ball and got their application in first thing when the draw lines opened.  And the draw had not been set up properly so that the computer was giving the permits to "first come first served".  There was nothing shady on the part of the hunters but a draw flaw.

There must be a draw flaw here as well, because, if the draw is being handled properly I believe it is impossible for a hunter to be drawn more that once in a life time for the 438 sheep permit.

I don't believe money has anything to do with it.  (I guess with enough money one might be able to bribe a computer data entry person)

Ahh, didn't realize your WIN # couldn't be re-entered. My understanding was on a partner tag it was possible.

MAV - I don't think this guy got one last year but not 100% sure I don't follow his show real close. Not sure on the partner tags either, I thought anyone could apply as a partner. Would make sense for something like a moose or elk. Might just be for youth like you say. Either way the guy has a horese shoe up his cazoo if he has his third tag in hand!

Can't say i'm jellous as I don't apply for that draw but would be nice to see some others pull the tag as so many are waiting to do so. Should be a once in a lifetime tag IMO.

You do not apply for partner licences.

For some licences if one person gets draw then they can designate another hunter as their partner and then the two can hunt the one animal together.

There would be no horse shoes or luck involved if someone got drawn for the sheep tag in 438 more than once.  It would be a mistake or draw flaw.

The first year of this draw a thousand or more hunters applied for 2 or 3 permits.  The next year all those guys would be priority 2 and have a chance again at the few permits.  Anyone who did not apply the first year but applied the second year will have to wait until all the first year guys get drawn or die.

Sorry Rough neck, to clarify the speculation is that this individual with his third tag put in with his spouse who would have also been drawn. The problem is that the spouse tagged out last year on a trophy sheep making her ineligible to draw this year. That said haven't confirmed she has a tag this year, just that someone has his third tag.

Do you think you will get a different answer? And what question would you ask?

I wouldn't expect them to violate someone's right to privacy by giving names.
